Longer exhales
Oddball segment on the local news.
It does work.
Eases stress and tension.
I’m going to try more often.
I knew this. But watching the stupid tube I did a few more and it feels good.
In through the nose. Long exhale from the mouth.
Not sure why it works but it does.

Nitric Oxide & Mouth Breathing
physiology you want to understand
In 1998, The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded jointly to Robert F. Furchgott,
Louis J. Ignarro and Ferid Murad. The title of the Nobel Prize was “Nitric
Oxide as a Unique Signaling Molecule in the Cardiovascular System.”
Today, it is recognized that NO is a widespread signaling molecule in all
organs of the body, not only the cardiovascular system.
Their contributions to the understanding of this gas and its effect on the
human body are of major importance in our understanding of the regulation
or our bodily systems and of ultimate health.
Enzymes have been found in the nose and in the paranasal sinuses that
produce Nitric Oxide. Nitric Oxide levels in the sinuses are even much higher
than what is produced in the nose. These findings show that the main site
for Nitric Oxide production is the paranasal sinuses. [Lundberg JO, FarkasSzallasi T, Weitzberg E, Rinder J, Lidholm J, Anggaard A, Hokfelt T, Lundberg
JM, Alving K. High nitric oxide production in human paranasal sinuses. Nat
Med1995;1:370–373.]
What does Nitric Oxide do?
NO plays a role in every organ of your body!
Here are a few things it does:
As a vasodilator it decreases blood pressure and improves
blood flow to the organs
Anti-inflammatory action in the arteries
Prevents blood clotting and obstructions in the arteries
Immune defense: destruction of viruses and parasitic
organisms
Plays a role in respiration
Enables erectile function
Enhances memory and learning
Protects the skin from harmful ionizing
radiation
Promotes a healthy digestive tract by
regulating the secretion of digestive
hormones and enzymes
Hormonal effects: influences
secretion of hormones from
several glands
Regulates bladder function
Acts as a signaling molecule
to maintain normal bodily
functions
Regulation of binding/
release of O2 to

Damn KQ.
Hope to hug you irl someday. Assuming hugs are allowed.
If not. Then it’s an elbow bump.
I always thought it was yogic breathing. But the idea of feeding nitric oxide back to your own system is cool.
Ps. Doctor Furchgott. Heh. I furchgott about him.. . .

I was telling my PT ( an attractive young woman) that when I clenched my lower abdomanel muscles so hard it was like drawing my scrotum up into my body some thing clicked in my lower back/SI ( or sft ) had been better since she said " uh yes we call that engaging the pelvic floor "
not too many people exhale all their breath , you have to squeeze your lower abdomen-to-asshole so when you relax those muscles you will inhale a bit of air and yes its a part of Yoga practiseLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

Me? No but I've had some really great instructors who went into detail about the physical/muscular/skeletal side of each movement explaining how everything tide together and what was the desired result of each pose. Mostly Vinyasa yoga but some Hatha and my favorite Kundalini with all it's lovely Kriyas, Bandas and twists.
Sigh... our one great studio closed down last year. Been trying to make it work with others in the city but no one has the kind of practice I like. Found that a studio in Seattle is doing live Zoom classes during this time of SAH so I signed up to take a class tomorrow. I'm actually kinda psyched. Hoping to have more of a class feel than just watching YouTube videos.

What I hate about the APAP machine is it's cycle doesn't allow for long exhales. I feel like I am not clearing my lungs.

Not huge yoga person myself but I'm with an instructor/studio owner who has been at it for 20+ yrs so I'm right in the middle of it, with the distancing thing she is trying to get classes going on Zoom

Did my first Zoom yoga class today and it went really well. It is much nicer than just watching a video because of the interaction between participants and the instructor IMO. The instructor, like many I've had in live classes, warmed the class up with some thoughts/musings/encouragements that were pertinent to what we are currently experiencing so it had a more personal feel.
For those of you who don't know Zoom you can choose to be seen or not/choose to see other participants or not. I liked seeing the other participants because I feel a large part of yoga is the connection between individuals.
The instructor did mute participants during the class so as not to have them accidentally interrupt her instructions.
I will def. do more classes as I feel it helped with my feeling of isolation as well as all the usual goodness that comes from doing yoga.
Price was the same as going to a studio. Single class is $12 and goes up from there. Lots of choices for types of class too.

I did another class on zoom, so looking at an LT screen from a distance its better vued in a slightly dark room with no sunlight, putting the LT on a foot stool so you you can look at it standing or laying down works pretty good IME
the LT froze just before class so i had to reboot, I thot it might have been from the windows 10 upgrade being a bit more unstable than windows 7 but apparently its been happening with others, i noticed zoom had a fix to down load just after the class so maybe it will be better next time
Virtual class numbers seem to be higher than when the classes were in person, I guess people got no where to go so this is a captive audienceLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

There was a report on the news last night about some issues with Zoom due to increased use and asshole hackers doing "Zoombombing"
https://www.npr.org/2020/04/03/82612...an-fbi-warning
I have been trying to do a "mirror screen" on my smart TV but my laptop is older and I haven't been able till make it work yet though I only gave it one go. Will look further today.“When you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation to say something. To do something." Rep. John Lewis

Six seconds in, six seconds out. Create the prana ball of fire. Visualize the mercaba meditation.
If you finger it out, you'll understand.
