Happy Oktoberfest!
Yep, it's that time of year again:
In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus: Eins, zwei, ... g'suffa!
Da läuft so manches Fäßchen aus: Eins, zwei, ... g'suffa!
Da hat so manche braver Mann: Eins, zwei, ... g'suffa!
Gezeigt was er so vertragen kann
Schon früh am Morgen fing er an
Und spät am Abend kam er heraus
So schön ist's im Hofbräuhaus.

Prost!!!
First time in a long time I haven't spent this weekend mowing down on metts, brats, gallons of Spaten Oktoberfest and cream puffs in America's biggest Oktoberfest; Oktoberfest Zinzinnati.
Granted Munich was a nice change of pace last year but I'm missing all that German goodness right now!Last edited by BmillsSkier; 09-23-2012 at 05:09 PM.

I'm drinkin Goose Island 312 right now! PROST!
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.
I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

You were in the right (US) city for German meats. Here's what google turned up to quell your mettwurst needs: http://cincysausageshop.com/products...ettwurst-pack/
Tell your butcher to get his learn on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MettwurstI still call it The Jake.

^^^thanks-to be fair, it wasn't the butcher I spoke to, it was a worker from his shop working at a food festival

I went in 1988. Lived about an hour north of Munich (at 100mph).
Swore I was 1 and done...
Went in 1989, 1990, & 1991. Blurry good memories.

Can confirm the brats, kraut, horseradish, knocks, mustard and Dortmunder were faaaaaaaaantastic.
Now I gotta pace myself over the next couple weeks and track down some GLBC Oktoberfest, Spaten Oktoberfest and some mettwust and good pretzels.
I too look forward to getting back to the fest in Munich one day, for now, this'll have to do.I still call it The Jake.

Might be going Monday. What’s the best way to experience the fest? Reserve a table. Which tent? Wing it and see what’s available?
