Holy crowded out there...do the crowds typically subside a bit right after New Years or will it be next week?
Looking like a good week of off and on snow with a NW flow and a possible heavy storm this weekend?

I can tell you my swanky little hill is an absolute monkey rodeo right now. Our on mountain restaurant did 65K yesterday.

Poor Colorado too busy for its own good, and now this Mary Jane situation has brought in its own tourists. A lot of edibles being bought and brought back east.

Cold temps. WNW wind. Moisture. Tomorrow should be great.
Now I just need to get Mrs. Smokin’ out of bed at 6AM following New Years festivities.

Wrong forum Jong? All kidding aside, scary stuff for sure. I've never ever seen HV slide, or even evidence of one. Snowpack is def scary right now. Keep it low and mellow! Hope we get some good dumpage and start off 2014 right!

All those steeper wind drift/rolls can slide.
You're welcome to post a thread in Slide zone if you want:-)
I'd change the CAIC's moderate to include pockets of high danger. Between the depth hoar and the surface hoar it's dynamic and if you trigger something it will be sizable.

Damn. And that was a CAIC moderate day I was up on Iron clad ridge that same day-- huge whumps in the trees.

I need to remember this to - so not pointing fingers at all - but moderate isn't low/no danger. I think people often thing considerable means I better be really careful, moderate, all is good to go. Probably because we rarely have low danger in CO and considerable is very regular.

How is tomorrow setting up in summit/eagle with the NW flow?

Who would think moderate = low? The word moderate means "average",--CAIC's definition is 2/5 where only specific features have heightened risk. In my moderate level of experience it seemed llike the risk was widespread across many types of features and terrain last week in the FR.
