Not a quote but looks like fun for the tourists on 85cm skis at Heavenly... wonder if Chase was buried down there writing up another complaint thread?

No quote, but I saw a nice young lady getting ready to start her first beginner ski lesson on a new low tech skimo set up, though I guess that one is really on the instructor. Gave me a shudder.

At Alta guy walks up to singles line near the front and drops his skis under rope and cuts the line. Several skiers let him know he can't cut the line, "its ok, that's my wife, I just want to ride the chair with her"

Skied Sun Valley this last weekend. Gal gets on the chair and the conversation somehow gets to Jackson Hole, and she says she doesn’t like it. She said she would if they would just get rid of all the rich people. She said she likes Sun Valley.

There is an art to cutting in line without pissing anyone off, I'm not sure of all the requirements but having your skis on is probably among the more basic ones.

"Those are the biggest skis I've seen all weekend!"

Sender Squads. Dude was visiting from the EC and actually wasn't terribly gaperish overall, but that made me chuckle.

There was a # of rude old pricks on the hill yesterday. They weren't from here. That's bad when a 70 yr old says it. Fuk off.

Waiting in the AM lineup at Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort in North Powder OR one cold clear morning after an overnight dump, some guy goes around everybody to enter the other side of the maze in attempt to snag an early chair.
    Yeah, no

Lifty shows him where the line is - behind those that got there sooner
    "I don't see a sign that sez this isn't a line"
"We don't need signs like that around here. You must be from out of town"
He was politely heckled by those in the proper line

Monster line on KT on a powder day. Guy cuts the line. Multiple people tell him to get to the back of the line. He ignores. Then I tell him and he obeys. People asking me how I did it. I shrug my shoulders. That's the thing about being a surgeon--you learn how to project unopposable authority while inside you're a bunch of quivering insecurities. Of course in most social situations that's a disadvantage--people just think you're an asshole--but once in a while it's useful.

Two years ago, Jackson Hole tram line on a legit 24" report; still puking snow.
I roll in around 6:45 and stake my claim in line still debating the likelihood of my firstramdreams.
I immediately look up the line and about 60' up I see these two guys enter from stage right, uphill (read slope side accommodations) and begin a friendly conversation with their mates.

"Haven't seen you guys since last night!
    Mind if we cut in?"
    "Sure!"

    I'm all:

    A!!!
    A!!! O!!!
    END OF THE LINE!!!

    Which was me.
So I watched my two new best friends trudge downhill and get directly behind me.
    I did offer them chocolate.

40 minute line on the old Germania lift at Alta, I'm paired with a kid, max 18, as we get near the front of the line a 40ish guy completely in black with a porn stache, cuts into the line right in front of us. We get off, the guy takes off an the high traverse, the kid in hot pursuit gives him a solid shoulder and puts him into the trees. No respect for his elders.

I like to skin the local hill before they open and ski a lap to the bottom of the upper chair for opening bell. It’s about 1600’ and a great way to start the day. I can load at the same time as the chair at the base and have a couple laps to myself.

A few days ago I come rolling into the bottom a little late because I knew the chair wasn’t going to open on time. I roll right past the crowd of a couple dozen people milling around outside the maze trying to decide if they’re going to wait there or do another lap on the lower chair and ski up to the wait board and start chatting up the cute lift op. The crowd then decides that they want to line up and get upset that I cruised on past them. They start whining and the lift op says “nope, you guys were fucking around not actually lined up and he’s first”. Then one of my patrol buds rolls up and asks me if I want to go up early with him. Hilarity ensues….

You only think you’re projecting unopposed authority, I saw through that years ago. At least you have self awareness the vast majority of your peers are clueless

Wait wait wait... so there's a maze already set up, with 2 sides to it, and people are only lined-up on one side, leaving the other totally empty? And so some smarty pants shows up and tries to go in to the empty side of the maze to not have to wait in a longer line? Is this what's happening here?

    Because if so...
    1) The people in line sound dumb for just piling up behind everyone else and not using the entire maze available
    2) At what point in the day is it okay to use the empty side of the maze? Do we have to wait until there's no line? 10 minutes after the lift opens? 20 minutes?
    3) It sounds like these people in this lift line are all "early mergers" on the road and don't merge where a lane ends.

I'm sure the circumstance in which this story takes place it was obvious to not try to pull some line-cutting stunt, but the picture in my head leaves me confused (this is a normal occurrence).

Top of the lift the other day and this guy's on the phone like "can't you just use the other toilet and get that one repaired?!"
IDK maybe you had to be there.
    No longer stuck.
