TR: A powder perfect day on M.M. 4-14-07

HikeforTurns sent me a pm regarding a high N face in the sawatch range and I decided it sounded like a good idea. My non- mag friends Scott and Luke decided to join in. Couloirman did a great TR for this same mountain a day later, but he said that more stoke is more better, and we had so many good photos I decided to do another TR.

The Arkansas valley got quite a lot of snow, and a lot of it was fogged in making for a beautiful morning. HikeforTurns got this great shot of Princeton.

Some shots of the long skin up:

Which was followed by a boot pack:

All the while, we were eying our potential lines:

The last bit of the climb across the ridge was fun and interesting:

    Off the top, Luke:

    Scott:

    HikeforTurns:

I have a bunch of photos just like this one. Stop making so much snow spray around so I can get photos of you, HikeforTurns

    Scott, next pitch:

    Luke:

Some fun looking lines behind me:

    The face, post-schralping:

HikeforTurns even made a cool sequence:

Just a great day, thanks for the beta from the Belford TR, couloirman, glad the wind came up a little and gave you some free refills the next day. Great photos, HikeforTurns, wish I got some better ones of you. April is such a great month- pow, corn, bikes, whitewater, it's all good

Edit- had to re-post because the date was all wrong.

Nice TR and pics there GB, great day! Seconded on the helpful beta from couloirman and killer of cokes. That was my best day skiing a 14er so far. A really fun line, and consistent pitch, with enough angle to ride it out to the road. Hope to hook up with you guys again sometime. Ive got alot of ideas.....

Definitely hope we can get out again sometime.

I've got ideas too... Like skiing fat pow tomorrow because it's been hammering for hours

Lot's of great photos in there. I love the powder contrails that just seem to be suspended in mid-air behind the skier. Very cool.

    Nice work all.

Not bad powder for April when it floats around like that, eh? I'm off to ski what appears to be considerably heavier snow...

Unbelievable work, so many of those pictures do a great job of capturing perfect moments in the mountains. I haven't skied in a while now, but it's TR's like this that help to motivate me to get off my ass and go do something.

I'd say you were right when you decided it was a good idea. Great stoke!

    Thumbs up

    First Class stuff right there!

I love the feeling of anticipation you get on approach. "Okay, here we go"

But this stuff right here. Damn, I need some of this. Seems like forever since I've skied good powder. Can almost feel the texture of the snow
