The 3 state proposal is ridiculous but carving off the eastern ends of Nevada, Placer, and El Dorado Counties to create a new Tahoe County would make sense to me.

They don't vote in a bloc now. You'd still have the same amount of representatives per capita as before. The 6 senators vs. 2 actually makes some sense, but then NY and TX would follow suit.

No kidding. I want no part of any state containing the bay area or Sac. Pretty sure the rest of what would be Nor Cal feels the same way.

Malcom Gladwell has a really interesting podcast about how Texas could split into 4 states; without the approval of Congress (unless congress could retract the approval prior to Texas executing the vote to split).

It's Nevada City, Auburn, and Placerville making decision for the summit and east slope that has me riled--especially Auburn. The sole criteria for Placer County planning decisions is whether it makes money for Placer County--the will of the locals be damned.
