    Flylow color discrepancy

Got my Baker bibs in the mail today. Ordered them in Rye. Was super stoked to have some steezy flair.
This is the color I thought they would be:

Are those not two completely different colors?

And yes, the tag confirms that the bibs I received are at least labeled as Rye:Click image for larger version.

I only do their action photos.... but I think what happened there is an off white background got color balanced to make it look true white, and clearly a bunch of saturation got added to the file, so thus the difference. All of which is something I try really hard with when shooting ski porn.... gotta keep it legit.

Regardless, the quality of the newer FlyLow stuff is top notch... I have a full closet of way more expensive outerwear, and I choose to use FlyLow for my personal gear because it just works better... and no I am not getting paid to say that. Dan's competitors pay me way more, but I like his gear better. My only gripe, is that I wish they would make some brighter gear instead of all of the earth tones, but thats what sells these days.

That is exactly why I ordered these: I wanted something bright. I'm generally fine with the color though, it just isn't what I thought I was getting.

After a few seasons of Arc'teryx bibs, I figured it was time to give something else a try. These things feel sooo much more bomber. I'm sure they'll perform well and probably last me awhile.

The actual color of them is way more inline with what I'd think of as "Rye" than the stock photo. But the stock photo is inaccurate.

It's difficult to learn how to / expensive to get really, truly good product photos. I run a small brand and we do all of our own photos in house, which we were doing outside in sunlight because it gives some indication of color out in the world. We're trying to professionalize things and shoot on a white background, but it is easy to mess it up. It's taken us a while to get our lighting, camera settings, etc dialed in. At first we made a lot of corrections in post processing but that is expensive and never looked quite right - left us with hued backgrounds, bright spots, over exposed images, etc. So anyways, be a little skeptical of product photos when they look tinted or blown out.

Flylow's stock photos have sucked for awhile. Reading the color name helps - "Rye" certainly implies earth tones whereas the Quantum Pro I ordered in "Amber" is definitely a bright yellow.

Quality I've been digging Flylow stuff a lot the past few years. Most of my outerwear is their stuff now.

I’ll be honest, I had no idea what “Rye” was supposed to look like so I googled it and found this: Name: IMG_0030.JPG

Now I’m only an expert in the blue hues of the color spectrum, but those two shades on the right look a lot like the color I thought I was getting.

Anyway, it ain’t a big deal. What I gots is fine by me but I did shoot Flylow and email letting them know what’s up and suggesting they take a look at whatever work was done to original photo to see if they can get it to better represent the true color.

While that is good to know, and I agree that their stuff is bomber - I still regularly wear gear that's nearing ten years old from them - this color discrepancy has been going on for years. For example, FlyLow has that Rye colorway for a few years now and they are still using the same photo.

Sure, it's a small company, but details matter.

I ended up emailing FlyLow and they told me that the Rye colorway was akin to Carhartt brown. Perhaps they should note that on their site?

Otherwise, you'll be stoked on those bibs. I have a pair and they are bomber.

I would be pretty disappointed with those. Thanks for saving me the same mistake.

If FlyLow put out the Baker bib in a color more akin to what is pictured; I'm all in for that. A yellow/straw color would be sweet!
