The Official Ski Weight and Other Stuff Thread
First, I would like to state that I cannot take credit for any of the weighing.
I merely went through all the threads, compiled all the data, and made a fancy spreadsheet.
All my data was compiled from the following threads.
The true thanks goes to these individuals.
UAN's thread
http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=58108
verbier61's thread (which is not included as those arent actual weights)
http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=35656
Ireallyliketoski's thread (which has some unique info not included in my chart)
http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=21117
laseranimal's thread
http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=74552
Gurterno's thread
http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=76054
I appoligize if I missed anyone, but hey, theres a lot of threads here.
Notes:
Some skis are listed twice and with different weights.
Thats because I included all data.
Some weights may be weird, like shorter skis weighing more than longer skis of the same brand and model, but like I said, I just got the data from the other threads and put them together.
Regarding dimensions\radii, I did the best I could to find the right info, but if something is glaringly wrong, let me know and I can update it.
Skis without radii, I used the calculator in Ireallyliketoski's thread that he has a link to.
Base Area Appx Calc - heres what I did.
I broke down the ski into 3 parts.
A1 = The rectangle formed by the wasit and the entire length of the ski
A2 = The two triangles formed at the tip outside of the rectangle formed by Area1
A3 = The two triangles formed at the tail outside of the rectangle formed by Area1
A = A1 + A2 + A3
Lets assume
Tip width = x
Waist width = y
Tail Width = z
Length = L
I also assumed the waist, was at 40% the Length from the tail.
Formulas were as followed;
A1 = y*L
A2 = (x-y)/2 * (.6L)
A3 = (z-y)/2 * (.4L)
The result was pretty accurate when I compared the cad file area to the calculated area as above.
Within 1sqcm'ish.
Thanks to dfinn for hosting some of the image files.
Hope this helps.

New Kingswoods weights (taken from web site which states 'approx')
Mega-fat 185cm = 4.8kg/pair (p)
'07 Fat 185 = 2.3kg per ski or 4.6kg/p. These are slightly wider than the existing Fat, so prob slightly heavier, but this is close to what's listed already.
Arrowsmith 198cm 4.8kg/pair
Archetype 185cm = 4.2kg/p
170cm = 3.4kg/p
You've taken a large bite with this one brother - nice work.

Nice work, I have a fairly big spreadsheet with tons of skis' dimensions, radius, and occasionally other info such as running surface, weight, etc. If I have the time I could incorporate your weights into it, or else I can send you the file if you'd like it...

Spotted a slight flaw, the Blizzard Titan Pro is 193cm, not 191cm.
Guess, I'll chuck a few skis in the car tonight and weight them at the lab (calibrated lab scale). Will post the weights and models tomorrow.Originally Posted by RootSkier

love to see a grams/lenght/width info too.
maybe grams per cm2 (squared) of the ski?
I have a friend looking for 70-80 under foot and 150ish cm, light, so the info is great to see

The past two years of Powder buyer's guides have posted weights for most of the popular Alpine binders and Touring binders. My issues are put away somewhere, but if somebody wants to look them up to amend the list, they're there.
Second thought: The weights were converted from grams to pounds and rounded to the nearest tenth, so a backwards conversion wouldnt be quite exact.ROBOTS ARE EATING MY FACE.

along those lines regarding weight conversion
a lot of the data I had to work with was in pounds
so I did a rough conversion and rounded to the nearest gram.
ive got a couple hours to screw around with this, gonna try to add some more info to the ski charts

bump
cause i added a shit ton of info
edit: and if anyone has some webspace I could bum for these pics, that would be awesome so I dont have to deal with chopping the pics and stupid TGR 100kb size limits and resizing.Last edited by pechelman; 02-11-2007 at 08:41 PM.

SICK BIRD
but how does a 198 kingswood have a smaller turn radius than the corresponding 185 kingswood?

Do you by chance happen to own a large, yellowish, very flat cat?

Sweet - I own the heaviest skis on that list. No wonder my shoulder always hurts.

I dont know, cause there is that rubber tripod heelshim as well.
I took everything verbatim from the previous posts.
take everythign with a grain of salt
either way, its 50grams. Not really worth worrying over.
