What we have here is an intelligence failure. You may be familiar with staring directly at that when shaving. .

Once staff picks off a few from the front, the uprising will abate.

Maybe 500 people on the border of the base, with drones, might liven things up for a while. Just pay cash for your drone and wear gloves when you handle it and maybe a mask during the event and you should be good.

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

I am of the opinion that *if* we ever find evidence of alien life, it will be met with a collective “well, dear, that’s interesting” if said evidence does not present an immediate threat.

The Fed center at 6th and Kipling in Denver has a ton of truck mounted ADS systems for some reason. I'm sure there are more than enough at area 51 to stop a large crowd.

    Active Denial System (ADS)
The Active Denial System (ADS) weapon system is a dish that projects electromagnetic radiation just powerful enough to penetrate human skin and make the nervous system think the victim is on fire, although no physical damage is done.[citation needed] Future combat vehicles such as the American GCV Infantry Fighting Vehicle will incorporate non-lethal weapons.[30] The Active Denial System is a non-lethal, directed-energy weapon developed by the U.S. military,[31] designed for area denial, perimeter security and crowd control.[32] Informally, the weapon has also been referred to as a heat ray,[33] since it works by heating the surface of targets, such as the skin of targeted human subjects.

In 2011, the ADS was redesigned to make it smaller, more reliable, and able to be used on the move. ADS II is being designed to operate from moving aircraft, as well as moving ground vehicles. The redesign does not address problems in different environmental conditions.[34]

Air Force Special Operations Command is experimenting with mounting an ADS on the AC-130J Ghostrider gunship to target threatening crowds or individuals on the ground. This is to give the gunship a non-lethal option so the crew has more engagement options. Due to the increasing number of engagements in populated areas, the Air Force is aiming to field a system within 5–10 years to have enough aircraft available with non-lethal systems.[35] The aircraft will apparently use the ADS II version.[36]

Paging MiCol. I wonder if Gore-tex, Neoshell or eVent would be better against this ADS?

Or did Trump throw in the towel on that yet?

"A towel, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.”

The British comedian and activist Mark Thomas did a great podcast years back about a protest invasion of the US radar base and listening post at Menwith Hill in Yorkshire.

For some reason the protesters were all dressed in Star Wars costumes.. his description of British Police and US military chasing groups of Wookies, stormtroopers and Princess Leias around the Yorkshire moors was rib aching funny.... wish I could find it.
