If anybody needs to get their fix of the original film, it is showing Sunday (8/4) and next Wednesday (8/7) on the Big Screens across the U.S.A.

Oh yeah, if you have some loose, disposable income, Val Kilmer has quite a bit of Iceman paraphernalia for sale:

Kathleen Turner IN Body heat will ALWAYS be the gold standard. that voice. She was pretty damn hot in the first stone as well. and mega, mega bonus points for "I went to college."
You are an idolater and an infidel. I kill you. Then I invite you to shut the fuck up.

Saying "Well, I'm old and fat now" like the latter condition is inevitable definitely amuses me.

I get all the worry about use of the appropriate aircraft...
But, nobody is concerned for an encore of the “up-high down-low” high five circle slap??? 🧐

Anyone else see this yet? Fun movie, first time I've heard clapping and cheering in the theater in quite a while.

Top Gun: Maverick
I saw it opening weekend and agree it was great.
I can take it further in that my friend was full on loud weeping at one point.
It was embarrassing but she’s always a bit dramatic and at least others were being loud af cheering, etc.
I was 2 seats away so I also pretended I didn’t know herskid luxury

You guys do know that a Captain in the Navy is an O-6 right? Maverick was a Lieutenant (O-3) in the original movie.

Dang, it got moved back so many times that I forgot about this thread.
Saw it on the second show,on the Thursday before the "official" release.
Closest thing to an amusement park thrill ride I have seen in the theaters since Aliens.
I imagine that seeing it on IMAX or in D-Box would be a blast.
I was pushed all the way beck in my luxury recliner with a white knuckle grip on the armrests for much of the duration.
My 2cents worth:
TOP GUN: MAVERICK
F×÷King A!!!
And by "A", I mean AWESOME!!!
If you loved the original then there is virtually no way you won't love this sequel.
It's teeming with nostalgic aural and visual callbacks, insane aerial sequences, and sweaty bodies, all delivered at a breakneck pace
Sure, the characters, are pretty one dimensional (but are instantly likeable) and the plot may be directly lifted from Star Wars: A New Hope, but you don't go see a film like this for rich exposition and intricate character development. No, a film like this is all about the rush.
On that front it delivers and then some.
And say what you will about Tom Cruise, but that man's smirk is infectiously charming.
I cried, I laughed, and I had white knuckles throughout.
There were a few missed opportunities in regards to added nostalgia (where were Viper, Jester, Cougar, Wolfman, Slider, Merlin, Sundown, Hollywood, and Stinger?), but this was a thoroughly satisfying giant tub o' popcorn blockbuster.
Definitely best seen on the biggest screen possible.

Thought it kicked ass as well. Tom Cruise is easy to make fun of but he is a legit movie star he plays a damn good fighter pilot, and for that, I salute him.
It was all of two seconds but the wing condensation shots on the jets as they go mach looney over the water entering the canyon during the mission is the stuff the big screen was made for.Live Free or Die

I was Entertained.
Although I have to admit that the story would fit on a napkin. And nebulous "adverseries " with "5th Generation fighters" are kind of Cheesy.
Great Action and Acting. It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

If I had a dollar for every time capitalism was blamed for problems caused by the government I'd be a rich fat film maker in a baseball hat.

So in the time it took to release this movie, Iceman became Otzi and already exceeded most post counts?
Impressive.
Movie was awesome. My 15 year old and wife were hoping for a volleyball scene, so when the beach football scene came on, they cheered. Proud papa moment for sure.
