    Ultimate touring power strap

    My ultimate power strap would:

    1. Have some kind of a buckle to quickly close it and open it. It has to come come off completely to allow full ROM. Cochise had that?
    2. Not flap around when touring. Maybe a magnet on the buckle/boot?
    3. Close to the last position it was used.
    4. Have reco built in.

I think the cochise buckle power straps were closest. Anyone know where I could buy those?

I’m lucky enough to have opposable thumbs so it’s pretty easy to just flick the end of the cam strap or tug on the end of the booster strap to loosen or tighten it an inch when I switch over.

    Missing a few key features:

    - Integrated GoPro mount
    - Electric heating capability to keep shins warm
    - Smartphone syncing via Bluetooth for remote tightening/loosening

I've been considering replacing my Maestrale RS power strap with a Voile strap for a while now, but never got around to it.

Those of you who have done this, did you just screw the Voile strap in through one of its holes? How has durability been? Does the XL really make that big of a difference versus a regular width?

damn that sounds useful, what's the combined weight on the opposable thumbs? how far back on the hand do you mount them?

I'm using 24" voile-esque (the ones from Brooks Mountaineering when they were closing). I've used them for 2 years, around 70 touring days. I just screwed through holes. Holidng up great. Simple mod. I like that I can really tighten them down.

Is the voile xl strap strong enough? I tried the world cup booster and I they felt they gave the boot too much flex. I'm sure they work for stiff boots, but for soft boots I did not like them. I don't think the xl voile is stronger than world cup booster.

I am trying to avoid putting too much force on touring boot buckles. To avoid that I have to tighten the strap, tighten buckles, re-adjust the buckles, and re-tighten the power strap. If I could tighten the power strap fully to start, it would avoid putting too much pressure on the buckles and be done in one shot. Can cam power straps do that?

Wow a paragraph to describe a cam while trying hard to be elusive it's cam. Thanks for bringing it up.

IMO the ultimate touring setup involves NO power strap. That's how I run my Hawx Ultra XTD's, Zero G Tour Pros, and Dalbello Quantum Asolo Factories.
