Have never heard that before.
I even did a search on "red lamps and TGR" in several different variations and turned up nada.
But I always have interesting takeaways from films, as well, ones that invariably have my buddies shaking their heads in confusion, so, yeah...

^When some poster on here asks for recommendations on gear, there is always a reply of "get the red one(s)". At the end of The Invitation, the mixed race couple look over the neighborhood hillside and most of the houses have red lanterns glowing with distant noises of violence happening. Somewhere along the way, they were told to get the red lantern. That's just where my mind went at the ending of the movie.

I get it, man.
I still have never seen anybody post "get the red one", but then I have not spent any time in the gear section in a long time...
And I am always making left-of-center connections to arbitrary things when I watch films.
Now I am curious as to whether or not Kusama's husband (who co-wrote the script) is a snow sports enthusiast.

Watched Extraction last night. Pretty decent action movie. Nothing that breaks the formula but a good use of two hours.

^^ Agreed. Not a terrible way to shut your brain off for a couple hours. Nothing remotely deep - plot, character development, or otherwise - to get your brain engaged. But they did just well enough so your brain didn’t feel like it needed to start picking it apart either.
Not worth watching it again, but I did have a passing thought re: just how many kills he had. Video game antics rivaling Schwarzenegger in his prime.focus.

We started watching Schitts Creek and loving it. I see there are 7 seasons and I'm hoping it goes at least a few seasons before it jumps the shark.

Probably already mentioned but the Waco series was awesome. Not a doc but a re-enactment. Michael Shanon doesn't disappoint.

my buddy, whose taste in films I agree with about 50% of the time, just recommended this to me:
He said he watched it twice in 24 hours and would rate it 5/5.
Again, I only agree with him about 1/2 the time.
That said, the trailer looks promising...

This came up on my feed. A fun look at something I’ll never do:

Sent from my iPhone using TGR ForumsIt makes perfect sense...until you think about it.
I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

I have no clue where this movie is available other than the Roku channel. It covers a mining scam a few people here watched go down in real time, including me and some of the canuck mags. It was the scam of the decade. In the movie it's based out of Reno but it actually went down in Vancouver and was listed on the Vancouver Stock Exchange as Bre X mining.

Just watched The Gift, which turns out to be on both Netflix and Amazon right now. It's a creepy murder mystery, centering around a psychic (Cate Blanchett), set somewhere in the deep south. A remarkable cast, and excellent performances, including Keanu Reeves, of all people, playing an aggro redneck. Directed by Sam Raimi, without his usual humor, but with his usual talent for atmospheric visuals. I'm not sure how this one wasn't more popular, maybe the wrong genre for its time, but it's worth the watch.
Another good flick that I just saw from the same era, that also managed to fly beneath the cultural radar, is Buffalo Soldiers (it's on Hoopla, not Netflix). It's kind of along the lines of Catch-22, only darker. Joaquin Phoenix plays an army guy, stationed in Germany, who cooks drugs and runs various other scams.
