Stevens was so fucking epic. Like fucking ridiculous. Like i've skied a shit load these last few years and my first run this morning was the best run of the last 3 years. Like fucking entire run face shots. Fucking white room the entire time. Choking on fucking snow. Steep turns in bottomless blower. Holy shit. one word.

I"m headed up to Alpy tomorrow morning if they open the pass. If not, then Friday morning for sure. It sucks being busy at work. I'll be the gaper on Axioms.

The pass is closed in both directions. Big avy west bound lanes. They are escorting people down the East bound lanes(west bound). Every hour it seems.

Baker...the road was open, the snow was deep, face and over the head shots were had. You needed to have a beacon, shovel and partner to ride chair 6 until about noon. The place was nearly empty, it was snowing and blowing.

If I 90 is unreliable, head up 542 to Baker.

Perfect day until my back started hurting on the last run. I'm hobbling around big time now.

I think we were one of the last cars to get through before the closure. Made it to Alpental by 4:30ish, they were having cars come back up the westbound entrance ramp so we knew that might be it. Confirmation came an hour later from the lifties that the pass was closed for the night. Shit, three people sleeping in a subaru didn't sound fun. Kept riding as the place became more and more empty. It was good. Then got word that there would be a short window of one lane going on the eastbound side. We did one more and joined the lineup. Wish I didn't have a lot on my plate at work because I would have stayed just for some intimate chair 2 action tomorrow. Night skiing is going to be a crap shoot up there tomorrow for sure.

The TV told me the pass wouldn't open until mid-morning. You should have spent the night in the Subaru.

If the Pass is still closed tomorrow morning, I might make the suicidal drive to Stevens then back to Seatac for work late in the day. Unless Xtal picks up more than the 4" they got today. fucking 1/2 days (supposed to have all day off tomorrow- but then got a 'mandatory must be here' work assignment. at least it's in the afternoon...)

I-90 unlikely to be opened this morning (according to local news). They still have not cleared the westbound slide which is 400 feet wide and 30 feet deep in spots.

I'm off to Crystal for a morning-only session.

I heard they were letting emergency vehicles, fuel trucks, and residents getting "essential items" through the closure to get up to the pass.

I have one pair of skis at the house in Seattle. However, boots, ski pants, jackets, gloves, transciever probe shovel, knee brace, gogs, etc are up there. I usually don't bring that stuff back and forth unless I'm certain I'll be somewhere else, and there's no way I thought the pass would close for 3 days while the area stayed open.

My brother isn't answering his phone but he's one of the lucky ones getting the private Alpental experience the last three days. He's supposedly working on a house on the hill road. Could be real problems up there when the Timewise and gas station run out of beer.

This storm is setting up just like the conditions that caused the Phantom to slide, with no end in sight for the storms stopping through the middle of next week. Hopefully we avoid the warm up and rain at the tail end.

I had a hunch this would happen. Summit operations are suspended until the pass opens.

I decided to take the day off. Skiing everyday is tiring and I had some crap to take care of at home. Have fun out there. I'll be up bright and super early tomorrow.

If Friday is anywhere close to Wednesday, then no words are needed. I should be trolling around with Phill, at least thats the plan.
