Speaking of snowboards, anyone in the market for a split board? I’ve got a 161 Voile Mojo RX that’s been my backup board for 5 years and only seen light use, prepping to sell it - I might have skins, starter bindings (regular Drake snowboard bindings mounted to a slider plate) and ski crampons to go along, just need to see if the skins are still in working order and if they fit this particular board). I’ll be getting pics for gear swap probably Monday but if anyone in OR is interested just let me know.
And on the obscure gear note ... anyone here into waxless touring on modern skis? I’m not talking grandpa’s 50mm underfoot 210 cm setup, I’m talking 80-95 underfoot like Voile Vector BC / Rossi BC 110/125, low angle tromping around with dog and baby on backpack. I’m looking for used gear and also travel advice - hit me up via PM if waxless touring is your jam!_______________________________________________

Wyeaster what's the size of that jones splitboard, and which model is it so I can look up the dimensions? I'll see if my skins are serviceable and will fit your board. If so, you can have em. Likewise on the slider plates and ski crampons just to get you started.
Ski crampons are not a complete necessity, but the best time of year to start learning and getting your feet wet is during spring corn cycles where you'll be less likely to get into trouble, have better / more stable weather, lots of daylight, and also the snow is bulletproof until 10-11 AM so it's nice to have some teeth under your board when skinning (especially when you're a noob without great skinning technique).
Did your board come with Voile pucks?_______________________________________________

Lots of rain on Saturday. Widespread agreement among forecast models at this point. Sorry to bear bad news.

Tempting to cash in a day off Friday. Seems like this whole thing is really unpredictable. The system isn't aimed at us so we'll just get hit by whatever trails off the sides. If I ski Friday maybe it'll be nicer Saturday IDK. Our computer system is super slow RN and I have a ton of work to do before we are closed for 3 days so there is definitely a chance that I will have to work Friday and then it will be raining at Timberline on Saturday.

I recently read an article about these (at least I think, hard to tell from the pic). They are supposed to be the ski boots answer to uncomfortable boots that keeps newbies away, and so we can be more like snowboarders and walk around I guess. I'll try to find the article and link it here as an edit. The editor seemed pretty suspicious that they would ski worth a shit, but anything that makes entry to the sport easier so cautiously optimistic. They looked they would ski like a pair of slippers to me.
Edit: Not what I read, but is this what they were?
