Police chief of Methuen, MA, population 51,000, made $326,000 from his city salary last year and thinks he should make more. That makes him one of the highest paid police chiefs in the country; more than the Boston chief and several other large cities. Refuses to take voluntary days off like other city employees to help the city's budget. Article may be behind a paywall.

I think that's almost 3x what the college president makes here in Missoula which is a slightly larger town and enrollment is waaaay off its peak. That might be close to Presidential or Senatorial salary level. Fuck that guy. IDK how close he is to Boston, but I'm guessing half that would be fine.

So they shot a kid? How about cops start with stop shooting people and we can start the negotiations there?

I can see it--a teenager being chased by an overweight cop weighed down by 25 pounds of gear. How else was he supposed to catch him. (Sarcasm.)

Am I imagining a kinder gentler time when if the police couldn't catch the perp he got away, then they were tasing them which killed a few , so now they just shoot them ?

Another example of how poorly equipped police are in handling psych situations. Since when is mental illness a capital offense?
And this after an SLC K9 officer sic’d his dog on a compliant black guy who was on his knees.

the cops like to shoot those guns, yep.
" In 2018, the most recent year available, according to the police department itself, Chicago centers fielded over 3 million civilian 911 calls for support. In a city with just over 2.5 million residents, that's an average of over one per person per year.
According to the reports, police had to respond with additional force 309 times. For all of the media coverage of police firing willy-nilly on suspects, the entire Chicago police force — a group over 12,000 strong — discharged their firearms only 43 times. Most of the use of force was with a taser.
Of the 43 firearm discharges, not every shot fired was lethal. In fact, the entire force averaged 10 civilian deaths per year between 2013 and 2018, an amazing decline in use of force from years past. While that would still lead protesters to suggest that each death was excessive, since 2007, just one of the 400 deaths by police was found to be unjustified. "
and:
" between 2007 and 2016, over 95% of all Chicago police officers never even fired their weapon."

Those are some pretty horrific stats. 5% of the police have to discharge the weapons against people? WTF?
Compare those numbers to any other western nation, say Canada, or Germany, and I would be willing to bet Chicago PD shoots more people than entire countries.
Cops don't prevent violence, they cause it in America.

Police Behaving Badly
It’s hilarious that poorly written article used this article as the basis for the 95% of officers didn’t discharge their weapons.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/static....-shooting.html
TLDR; there’s 130 cops responsible for 30% of all shootings. Those same cops have other bad behaviors.
“The 130 officers in this group tended to have citizen complaints filed against them at about twice the rate of other cops. And while any individual complaint may not be indicative of misconduct, these officers were also the subject of civil lawsuits requiring payouts twice as high as other officers, according to data gathered by the Chicago Reporter.”
But yea, according to Skicouger the police (in Chicago of all places) don’t need to be reformed at all. I mean this period was an entire 14 years after they agreed to fire the cop who was torturing people.

"The protester seen in the video was arrested on investigation of failure to disperse and obstruction, Seattle police said."
Even if the protester is guilty of that crime, protestor will get paid, and that cop is going to get fired, or at least disciplined. Cop made no effort to avoid the protestor and instead appears to purposely step over the protester and then let his bike run over the protester's head.

If anyone deserves to body slammed by cops it's Brad Parscale, but this was objectively unnecessary. If you're impatient and/or don't want a good look at his wife's tits, skip to 2:25.
The police issued a statement saying "They made contact, 'developed a rapport' and negotiated his exit from the house." LOL. If this is how FL cops treat a white guy in an affluent neighborhood, imagine how they act around people with less money and more melanin.
