Way to put a positive spin on it

I was there as well. Pistes were firm and fast, and off-piste was basically out of the question.

Wish I'd had a carving board or some GS skis. My reverse-camber board was definitely not the right tool for the job.

Still... a day in the mountains is always better than a day at the office, and the weather + views were incredible.

Never a bad way to end the day:

basically it won't snow until christmas. and then we're still not necessarily due for a change because of the massive cold air flooding th atlantic coming from the US.

I hear you. I guess this will be the first time in many years that I´m not going to do one single turn in the pre season. Not worth the money to go down skiing groomers.

Aha! And so another false start to the winter... Freezing levels w/inversion at 2600m? Shall we start placing bets on when and where the winter will come back, and what its gonna be like?

Jumpturn will bring a meter. And I will bring a meter. Mine is coming from Colorado however, so will be sprinkled with self-aggrandizing twats.

More snow needed, but to be fair, the altitude here keeps the snow temps low enough to let the pisteurs and piste-bashers (with snow cannon help) do a good job. I'm impressed with the quality of the (limited open) slopes in Verbier and Nendaz in Switzerland.

Kind of feisty for a Canadienne.

You can show sarah how it is done.

Then, i'll tell you about the 20-30cm forecast for Argentiere on Thursday... Should be good for a meter or so on the Aiguille. Christmas looks like SNOW!

    Edit: Here ya go, sparky...

If we take jumpturn's New England meter, your Colorado meter and a Tirolian meter we might just get a nice, euro, metric meter!

Actually better than I expected in Salzburgerland on the weekend, the surface hoar was nice to ride. Really need a couple more metric meters though. Thankfully, I will be away for a couple of weeks which usually means it will dump.

Yesterday at Garmisch watching the kids (on the lift behind) while I take in the scenery. An on-piste day. Not too bad for before Christmas.

Any prognostications for snow in the foreseeable future? Trying to decide whether to pull the plug on a planned trip in January and go elsewhere (like Japan).

Ya you should probably goto japan, or learn how to use google search and then depending on your reading comprehension you might realize that the western alps are about to get a meter this week and hopefully more to follow...

Group from England, twin brothers (sons) with father and guide. Father, guide and one son caught on the way down. Father badly injured (broken arm and leg), son did not survive the slide. Both son and father had deployed their airbags but were still buried.
