Way to put a positive spin on it
I was there as well. Pistes were firm and fast, and off-piste was basically out of the question.
Wish I'd had a carving board or some GS skis. My reverse-camber board was definitely not the right tool for the job.
Still... a day in the mountains is always better than a day at the office, and the weather + views were incredible.
Never a bad way to end the day:

ahm well...not exactly
basically it won't snow until christmas. and then we're still not necessarily due for a change because of the massive cold air flooding th atlantic coming from the US.It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

Not much snow, but the ice climbing isn't bad at the moment...

Aha! And so another false start to the winter... Freezing levels w/inversion at 2600m? Shall we start placing bets on when and where the winter will come back, and what its gonna be like?

Jumpturn will bring a meter. And I will bring a meter. Mine is coming from Colorado however, so will be sprinkled with self-aggrandizing twats.

If we take jumpturn's New England meter, your Colorado meter and a Tirolian meter we might just get a nice, euro, metric meter!
Actually better than I expected in Salzburgerland on the weekend, the surface hoar was nice to ride. Really need a couple more metric meters though. Thankfully, I will be away for a couple of weeks which usually means it will dump.Last edited by Incompetent Boob; 12-16-2013 at 03:56 AM.

Any prognostications for snow in the foreseeable future? Trying to decide whether to pull the plug on a planned trip in January and go elsewhere (like Japan).

Ya you should probably goto japan, or learn how to use google search and then depending on your reading comprehension you might realize that the western alps are about to get a meter this week and hopefully more to follow...
