How's the spring backcountry in Ogden UT?
Looks like I'm moving to Ogden and I'm a lifelong Colorado ski mountaineer, whose favorite thing is skiing couloirs and big descents April - June.
Is there any snow left in the ogden area in late spring? What are the big peaks of the area? Do most ogden skiers go south for peaks like nebo and timp that time of year?

I'd stay in Colorado. Spring skiing in Utah isn't very good.

There's a lot of thick bush in the lower elevations!

Last I checked the mountains around Ogden are about 3-4000 feet short of Colorado's peaks. But then again how often did you drive 30 minutes to go skiing in Colorado?

In good snowpack years (this year), it's pretty good. But as mentioned, we suffer from low trail head elevation, so be prepared for long hikes to the snow line and character building exits. Our mountains don't hold many secrets for mountaineering type lines as most can be seen from the valley (either upper or lower). I'd also temper your enthusiasm about skiing around here in June, it'll exist, but you'll start to question whether the juice is worth the squeeze at that point.

This is the southwest face of big ben no?
Definitely good skiing in the northern Wasatch and the Bear Rivers from my limited experience, I just wouldn't bank on June, or May for that matter. Snowbasin does have one of the better uphill policies in the state and post lift served season seems like a good time to check out the mt ogden cirque.

I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues
