Hurricane 2021
This thread is a bit late and probably should have went earlier but Ida definitely deserves her own or at least the appropriate year.
New Orleans may get a direct hit 16 years from the day Katrina hit. Currently forecasted to hit as a CAT 4, as soon as this thing clears Cuba it will likely undergo rapid intensification. I wouldn’t be surprised if we wake up on Sunday to a CAT 5.

Hurricane 2021
Direct hit by Cat 4 or 5 in a slow hurricane season is a really shitty luck…

A lot of money has been spent in preparation for the next big one, looks like we're gonna find out if any of it worked.

They got pounded by several smaller storms last year. Shitty luck is the only luck they have.

They probably ain't going to turn the stadium into some dystopian big tent this time. Or maybe they will. No car, no money, where ya gonna go?

What does "M" even stand for? I see it means greater than 110 mph winds but what word or term does the "M" denote?
Regardless, whoa.
edit: apparently it stands for Major Hurricane. Those folks have today to do something. Storm surge is expected to be 10-15 feet in some areas.

Hate to repeat myself, but just watching the disaster porn channel, AKA the Weather Channel, ( jfc, those fuckers get such a hard on when this stuff happens) and they recommended that, in order to prepare for this or any other class 3 heading your way, to fill the tank of your car and get plenty of cash. Well, that eliminates a shit ton of people living in one of the poorest places in America.

Was headed to Venice, LA Monday for a fishing trip. Friend just bought a waterfront condo there. Not good. Hopefully going down the end of the week to pick up a new bullet for the jet boat and hopefully back country fish a day or two.
In order to properly convert this thread to a polyasshat thread to more fully enrage the liberal left frequenting here...... (insert latest democratic blunder of your choice).

Friend in NOLA lives in a safer spot from wind and sort of flooding. She’s riding it out because the roads have been gridlocked since yesterday. The pumps in her hood have been a constant project for years, but apparently have been working well for the past year. Other friends are staying with her too who’s home are more exposed to direct winds.

Idk, you got a full day before the bad shit happens. Maybe you can’t get that far but you can at least get inland.

Waffle Houses are closing in Louisiana. If that doesn't say GTFON, what does?

You can look at the cams on the LA highway page I linked above, they're pretty much wide open right now and it's not raining yet. Only 8:00 there, tropical storm-force winds aren't expected until about 8:00 AM she should gtfo. Staying is at least foolish and could easily be perilous.
