I'm back
File under "who gives a fuck?"
Does anyone know me? I feel like a coma patient walking outside the hospital in just my gown. But I do remember this once being a place of good, and I made some friends. But I barely remember you all except for some brief flashes of fun and hilarity. Beer. Skiing.
Anyway, we had kids, I didn't ski for 6 years. Got fatter. Sold my house in Portland and moved to the flats of northeast Minnesota where the only skiing is a little tit near some mining pits called Giant's Ridge. Bought some light gear for the flats but I'm also teaching my young girls to ski up at the hill. Got a shitty little house on a lake. I fish for crappie and smallmouth slinging dry bugs at sundown with the water up to my bellybutton. Lately been teaching myself to ice skate. My ski quiver is stuck in the 2010/2011 season.
Anyway, hello. Welcome back, me.
Edit: I guess I should say that I'm also looking for local friends to replace the old west coast ones.Last edited by bio-smear; 01-13-2022 at 04:52 PM.

Welcome back! I think your location now makes you neighbors -- more of less -- with:
Jer (of Jerantula fame)
digital death (of boiled meats + ice fishing with a Sonata fame)
ill-advised-strategy (of being one of the best writers here fame)
Harry (of establishing his own private Idaho island fame)

Learn to tele.
It makes Midwest hills fun again.
Particularly if you go old school leather boots.
I’ve had plenty fun on 220 vert.. . .

Your username is familiar, so there's that. But we didn't have a wake for your disappearance. Welcome back.

Almost just said "Hi Karl" in the initial post, I guess I should have. Hi Karl. I do remember Jer, and that's about it. But I can't remember why. I remembering thinking he was an alias of someone else.
Yeah, turned with MTT at Mt. Rose a few times. I remember you being loud.
Core shot...been 100% tele since 2010! Now I'm resuming training to blow up the Nazi heavy water factory by running some NNN-BC gear and pushing through the slush on my lake. Been thinking about adding a rifle to the mix like Kurt Douglas. These neighbors up here wouldn't look twice.

Boy, you really missed out on some fun times here in PDX. Watching 100 consecutive nights of riots on the news or w/e it was probably made you really miss it here, huh?

I was there! For the riots and the fires. I was just safe in my little hidey hole in Lake Oswego the whole time. Then I finally convinced my wife we need to live in the country, but her one condition was that we find lakeshore property. Well, not being a millionaire, it meant pretty much leaving the western US.

I remember you. I've since changed my screen name but I still own multiple timeshares. Welcome back. Sounds like you have a nice little slice up there.

Yeah! I wrote a full paragraph about it just now but since I'm nearly 50 I lost the reply. Actually moved here to fly floats since there's lakes everywhere.
What was your old username, ART? Was I ever in one of your timeshares?
I've missed this place. It's starting to come back.

I bought a used Alumacraft V14 with a Honda Marine 30hp motor! It flat rips and is perfect for this 245 acre lake. But ice moto?! Holy shit that sounds rad. Maybe just an old 650cc sled will have to do.
Haha I'm laughing at the edit. I need to feel special now and then. Consider this my Reddit AMA.

Ice moto is absolutely tits! Is so fun, I have been secretly hoping the ice takes a little longer to firm up so I don't bail on skiing. I need to keep skiing laps on the local ice Hill to keep some legs for trips these days and ski with the kiddos.
Seriously pick up a 150-250 cc nothing special bike, spend coin on Marcel Fournier tires plow a track, and hold the F on because it is on like Donkey Kong! Seriously retarded fun. Should be illegal.
In Minnesota you probably don't need to own a boat to go footing. Plenty of addicts there. Show up with beer and gas.
