I am not trying to blatantly degrade or demean women or condone such behavior, but again, I don't think TGR is all that unique in the lack of women posters. It is not the only forum that I have been a member of that has a porn section or thread, and men are fairly predictable; there will always be a subset that push boundaries more than others, and there will always be a smaller subset that do more than just push boundaries. Even TTips, which strived to be the most inclusive women-friendly site I have ever posted at, had very few women regulars. Acting like the lack of female posters here is a direct result of the unique behavior this place, and not something more broadly demographic or societal, is naive.

I'm here mostly because DTM is still here, especially in the bike stuff.
I met DTM because of this place, so I probably won't ever completely go way.
I see a bunch of the ladies in real life that were on here back in the day. They're busy with families, riding bikes, skiing, working, doing other things and not being on the internets. You'll probably have to go to Instagram to find them, which is where I frequent most

I have to say though, I sure miss the old days of this place and our twice yearly summits. It's where I met SO many good, good people- a bunch of which we still keep in touch with today. Lifelong friends!
I'll bet a handful of the ladies still look around here, but don't post.

you are one of the most reasonable people here even in conflict.

i didn't say anything about how much it has an impact, just that it is different than my experience elsewhere. that said, most of the message boards i have been on regularly were more academically or politically-oriented. porn was not tolerated at any of them. men still outweighed women, but women were a much larger presence than here and the common language here in reference to women was not tolerated either.

just because men are predictable doesn't mean they can't or shouldn't control themselves in a public forum out of respect. but self-moderated tgr has a lot of white male testosterone-filled superstuds shielded by keyboards.

Someone has to say it... the BBi gatherings of the last three years have been super fun ski parties and pretty well attended. The summits have been happening. A few ladies have shown, too!

do you post on knitting sites? quilting? pick a stereo typically female hobby and you'll find a much more female oriented forum.
