Alpine was fun this morning. If you looked could still find some fresh pockets. High yellow/ arts knob. High beaver & high T no go, need more snow before they can open.

Beautiful to see snow all over the basin. Let's go miracle March!

    ^^^^thanks for that. will read.

another view at a slightly different angle. bet it looks better int he sunshine. And there might be an entrance from the top even. for what it is worth, never fell the subsurface in the right bowl, but it is a lot less exposed. definitely had wind effected snow deposits in it.

mid march looks like it might be funish.

Some splitboard laps from the Rose area on Sunday/Monday. Best conditions of the season. Glad people are getting after it. Heading out tomorrow for a few more.

Heh. That was some pretty excellent speed check camera slutting.

Not going to lie, the video was filmed as propaganda to get my Bay Area friends up here for the weekend.

The snow was outstanding on the North facing slopes this morning.

Here's Kirkwood from Saturday. Mostly chairs 5 and 11, then 6 when it opened and a lap or two off 10 before my GoPro battery went kaput. Not that any of the footage from the backside would have turned out anyway, it was snowing pretty hard by then.

The east winds did their thing on the ridge tops near Kirkwood. Crazy unedgeable glacial ice in West Shore's steep pitches. Broadway had a ribbon of wind deposit until you hit the safe spot on the right next to the crux. So icy that I almost slipped uncontrollably backward into the crux. I took the alternative exit on the right but that was just as bad. I went for it and began sliding and thankfully got my skis under me to straightline out into the better lower angle snow.

Boulevard (diagonal) was similar. Top entrance was scary so I climbed down into it on the sunny side. There was ribbons of winter snow next to the rock walls and from below the crux looked small with the snow looking great on the runout. It was edgeable until the crux where I could see my reflection, so I ended up straightlining into the better snow below.

Temple looks like early November and I don't see a safe line in there.

I really wish this ice will disappear but it may be awhile.

The resort skied well, fun wind buff off 10 and great cut up pow in Oops in Poops on 6. Definitely pockets of ice hiding around the hill so be careful out there.

    Nice.

How is that particular spot? I've looked at it from across the way and considered it. But it seems a little far for the vertical offerings.

I was at the top of Hell's Delight last week just to get a peek and the ice was so hard there was no edging into it.
Sketch shit. I got the hell away from it, summing it up as 'ice slide of death to rocks then trees.'
