    Vipec Heelpiece Falling Off?

I’ve had my Vipecs for a little more than a year, they’re the “black” version. They’ve probably seen about 30ish days mostly touring.
Today, I toured on them for the first time in a while, and the heelpiece on one of the bindings kept falling off in the skintrack. I think it backed off of the plate, unscrewing itself. There is no aparant damage on either the heelpiece or the track that it mounts onto.
Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas of what may be amiss?

Maybe the adjustment screw or heel track threads are stripped?

As far as I could tell, everything looked normal. I’m going to pull it off when I get home this week and take a closer not-on-the-mountain look.

hm - very strange. Has the tension spring snapped? If so then the length adjustment mechanism should be free to turn (nearly) without friction. If that is the case than the ease of screwing the heel back on should be noticable and "too easy" and i would think you are able to nearly pull the rear off.

I pulled both heelpieces off tonight and saw literally no difference between the “good” one and the “bad” one.

Black Diamond wants me to send them in on warranty. Debating skiing them again one more time before doing that to see if it was some bizarre one-off issue...
