Late reply here but I just saw another story that was similar. This one is even more ridiculous, where are the Ski Patrols? Where is the staff?

Blustery out there. Bit upside down too with some slabby conditions.

Huck, we skied NE panel higher up, and it was pretty wind-effected, and a bit upside-down slabby, so we decided to skip the N on that one. Had to finish by 9 too...so dunno! Lemme know what you find… This winter just wont quit! Wooooooooo,!!!~¥!§

I was on 6 when guy hit it and looked like 10'. Could have been bigger.
Looks like a 10 footer from below, though depends on the speed necessitated by the length of the straightline, which looks fairly short/wide. Tough to judge until you're in it. I skied it back in 2010 on a perfect day. This is the most accessible it's looked since but still not sure I'm doing it again!

Sounds like a few more storms and it will be just a straight line. A few more and folks will be making moguls on the cone. Get it before it gets bumped.

I don’t know about Northstar “inflating” their numbers. Homewood is reporting 535 inches for the season and Squaw got almost 100 inches more than Alpine. How does that happen unless you are measuring at different elevations or on different aspects? Lots of wackiness with resort snowfall numbers this year.

That's just it. The reporting used to be a bit more scientific, and they would at least tell you at what elevation they measured.
Nowadays, it's all marketing BS. Put the snow stake at the point on the mountain that captures absolutely the most snow.
Northstar's snow stake is on the north side of it's highest peak, just a few hundred feet down in the deposition zone.
That's like squaw putting theirs right under the palisades, just ain't right!

OFFICIAL TAHOE 18/19 STOKE, CONDITIONS, WEATHER THREAD
It's odd, but even back in the days of inflated reporting by Mr GOOD MORNING SKIERS AND RIDERS!, I had a better sense of the actual levels as his bullshit factor multiplier was relatively consistent

First tracks in some favorite lines today. Second skin out of the north side suddenly turned manky skin glopping. Released multiple slides of heavy pow that ran 150 yards. As we did our exit climb guys were releasing pinwheels. Crazy conditions change in minutes.
May dry out over night.

Kirkwood yesterday was great, the wind filled in tracked out areas surprisingly well. Gonna brave the crowds tomorrow, hopefully it's not too wet.

Skied fireplug today. Good dense snow. Second lap towards a steep couloir, i did an ect and got propagation, dug a second one, no propagation, but 5 taps on both, so inconclusive, but this was good enough for me. I bailed.

skiing is like sex. unless I'm actively doing it I'm prettty much thinking about the next time I get to do it. got 3 laps on the backside yesterday before it was closed for wind and it was really good with Treemans being the highlight of the day. Thanks to the two dudes who pointed us over there from the bottom.
