That asswipe is going to cause the work of SAR to quadruple for the rest of the season. They've already had to extract a few unprepared idiots who were out looking for gold and got themselves in trouble...

    Wasatch Dirt Thread

MTB trails were so tacky and smooth today. That 1/4” of quick rain last night did the trick. Just hero dirt and empty trails. Best day in a long time.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

PC trails...This morning, upper elevation trails were slightly muddy, greasy, and had standing water in low spots, ...mid/low elevation was hero....Heavy rain started in PC area around 2pm and trails were getting sloppy. Guessing rain is going to continue for a while...dare I say give trails a day or so to dry out?

Almost no rain in the southern half of the valley.

Was up there working a booth at the archery event at snowbird, public safety said get the move on at 130 and I didn’t think twice. We were at red butte tonight and the amount of rain we got while sitting waiting for the show to get canceled was about 2 inches in ~45 mins. If that happened up lcc I can only imagine some of the cleared slides from Feb. brought some big rocks to the road. Friends got stuck up there overnight a few years ago in a similar situation.

I turned around a mile into my ride yesterday. Just too wet and I don't want to be the guy responsible for damage. Three heavy storms have come through since that time. The stream through my yard that usually is a run off only flow is running like mid May.

Picked up a new rear brake rotor today. BT seemed like a good way to bed it in. Bit of a rut on the upper part from that last storm but the bottom 2/3rds are currently in fantastic tacky dark brown shape.

I thought pedaling up Mill D at 5 today was going to be a terrible decision but somehow we saw exactly 0 other bikes and only a couple trail runners.

It's kind of bothersome when the lungs don't agree with the dirt. Did that shitter air fuck with my lungs or did Delta get me? What ever happened to Easter airlines anyways?

I looped the crest a couple times over the weekend. Lowest numbers I’ve seen on maybe a decade. Was Tyler Hamilton In town? I’d swear it was him that passed me.

I'm guessing the trails are empty because people are avoiding future lung cancer.

Yeah, I was in town and couldn't *not* ride, but not sure it was smart. But hey, I rode all of Spiro yesterday without even coming across an uphill user.

Early evening on Great West yesterday, no way to get Ms Boissal to slow down for a hazy sunset picture:

As others have said it was a complete desert up there. Barely any car traffic in Millcreek and a grand total of 5 bikers and 2 hikers seen in the 3 hours we were riding. Took a long break in the meadows to watch 2 big bulls who were hanging about and occasionally locking racks. Not much fight in them, I guess the cow we spotted not too far wasn't enough to get them riled up.
Air quality was, well, as bad as pics make it look. Hard to stay in the house when the temps are good and the legs demand their pain tribute.

I picked a good week to hide in the basement and build up a new frame. Been wearing an N95 for the commute. Park City and Heber actually have the worst air in the Wasatch right now, crazy: https://www.ksl.com/weather/airQuality

    That's cold man...

Managed to convince myself that my foot was recovered enough for a Crest loop, the whole thing being fairly smooth and all. Complete desert up there except a couple large pack of youngsters. Millcreek Meadows is full of brake bumps and moose and the rut down Mill D North has deepened significantly, it went from fun surfing earlier this season to trying not to bury a rim and going OTB.

There's a new trail up there that starts just below Dog Lake and bypasses the section that is straight down the fall line and massively rutted. Didn't ride it, it's very fresh, wide, flatish, fancy new bridge at the bottom. I imagine the hikers will love it and it will decrease conflict if bikers stick to the old trail.

Nice to be able to see all the way to the other side of the drainage and not feel like I was using a smoke-filled inhaler! Also, this is going in tomorrow's breakfast:
