In a car? If I only look at one of the Flow Scan meters, it feels better. I had one Flow Scan stop working, and I asked my mechanic buddy about it. I told him the cool thing about it was now my gas mileage was a ton better. Took him a minute to get the joke.

    Drag boat or GTFO!

I knew a dude who's dad raced one of these in the 80s. Owned a BBQ chain and the boat was named Pig Doctor.

The correct question might be- are superpowered center consoles are the new cigarette boat?

That is some serious jack right there. My friend was looking at a two of them for his 37' Freeman, $175,000. He opted for four 300's at $20k a pop. And it will run 73. At 50mph, he is burning 1.1, WFO he is at about .6.

Back in Viking days your boat was faster if you had more oars.

I see all this as a logical progression to modern times.

Lose the swim platform? No thanks. Whole reason I would ever buy a boat in the first place is to dive/snorkel/swim. Not that I'll ever be able to afford a boat.

70 mph burning 20GPH is unheard of, unless I am not understanding.
Were you only looking at 1 Flow Scan readout? That is 3.5 miles per gallon.
I know of a guy here with a single screw diesel Yanmar I/O that pushes almost 8 MPG, but he is not going anywhere near WOT at that economy. That is at cruise.

7 Marine pulled off a pretty badass design.

Supercharged GM aluminum smallblock V8 with seawater intercooler, ZF transmission, and a sweet torque splitter in the lower unit:

Yup, and AFAIK, no major problems. Hard to see someone putting up that kind of cash for an outboard, and then advertising all the problems they have had though. In the boating world, the expected response would most likely be- WTF did you think was going to happen with a no name outboard company?

No idea though. I haven't googled 7 Marine problems.

I agree with this. But, it seems like every other new boat around here is a center console outboard <shrug>.
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Years back it was quite the weekend event, pre iphone days. We called it "piss cove" but i hung out on west side of lake near Ha Ha Tonka. Fresh, cool water inflow. Cool spot if ever in the area.
