I’m thinking come fall there may be some deployments that’ll be the latest you can remember. Stay safe.

Out of curiosity, what's the plan for covering KDIJ if the ARFF is out on a resource order?

It is ALWAYS a good idea to ski the Cascades and/or Olympics in May and June. Spectacular doesn't do it justice.

I'm not sure I agree. From ground level photos/video ( https://twitter.com/US_Stormwatch/st...46687931572224 ) it looked like it sheared off and dispersed at a fairly low level above the ground. Didn't look like it was plume dominated. Not to say that it's not impressive, just that it's not as impressive as Stormwatch made it out to be.

I thought about that and decided that Stormwatch doesn’t know what ‘plume’ means to the wildfire world. You probably know this well, Lone Star, but plume dominated fire behavior is rare and super-scary because of the downburst.

That’s an impressive column (and upper level winds) in the clips, but I agree, it’s not plume dominated - most people, including meteorologists, don’t know what that means.

smoke is in front of and below horizon line of peak so base of it is below that elevation. not plume dominated at time of pic.
