That is a very happy looking guy. A burrito, a beer, and a woman who looks like she loves him. What else can you ask for from life? (That looks exactly like a friend of mine with 10 years added on. But I've never seen him look that happy.)

Headline in the Sierra Sun about a guy who put in his 20 years and got a plaque: "Truckee Sanitary District celebrates Brooks retirement". I hope the Sun meant "congratulates", not "celebrates", or maybe they are really glad he's gone. Par for the course with the Sun.

    Related - I heard a quote:

"Andrew Giuliani is the Eric Trump of Paris Hiltons."

    Made me lol.

I;m constantly amazed at the professional signs and business signs with obvious spelling and grammar mistakes. Don't you have someone proofread this shit and wouldn't the printer do a courtesy proofread? I saw a menu for a new deli a week back and there 4 or 5 blatant errors on it. Makes the business you sunk your life savings into look like a kids lemonade stand.

Garbage day here is normally tomorrow. With the long weekend, it gets pushed back to Wednesday. Yet half my neighbors were dutifully wheeling out their garbage and recycling bins this evening. Happens every long weekend. They never seem to figure it out.

In Sacramento and Truckee holidays don't change the garbage pickup schedule. Pretty tough to make up collections if you skip holidays. And garbage folk are the kind of workers for who a day of holiday pay makes a difference.
(Better put your garbage out--are you sure it won't be picked up on Tuesday?)

Here it depends on which service you have contracted. Always check the company website. For some holidays everything moves one day. Memorial Day is not one of them. However it does mess with pickup times because not everyone gets their trash out. And because there's been a juvenile black bear on the rampage, we've been setting our stuff out on the morning of. We got lucky yesterday and they did not come early.

Around here for the last few months each trash day is a different surprise. I guess that they're short on drivers, because sometimes they do pick up all three bins, others one of them is not picked up, and it's usually picked up the following day (but at least one time they didn't and we had to wait till the following week). No announcement or anything, it just happens that way.
