I'm sure you've hunted plenty of bears.

Bears need to be managed just like other wildlife. When there is an overpopulation they need to be reduced. Hunting is the best way to do it.

wait for it . . .
I'm an elk hunter, but I've never personally wanted to hunt a bear- they are too human-like. That said, I don't really have a problem with other hunting black bears- although the idea that non-prey species need hunting to control their population is not well-founded. Here in SW Colorado, if their natural food was not killed by frost they don't come into town much to eat apples and garbage, and vice-versa. There have never been too many in the wild and there wouldn't without hunting- they are controlled by range, not much by predation..
Grizzlies in the lower 48- a whole other issue.

Oh boy, another bear thread filled with a bunch of putzes who've never actually seen a grizzly bear up close and in person.....
New rule. If you don't live in bear country, your opinion on this topic is not worth a shit.

I see a fair number of Black Bears while wandering around new developments that are taking away their front and back yards. Its not that there are so many bears it is more that we keep stealing their habitat.
I have seen around 7-8 Grizz at less than 100 yards, one at less than 20 feet when a biking partner almost ran into its ass and I almost crashed into him as he slammed on his brakes. Said Grizz was headed away from us at a full gallop. Thank you very much.
I hunt and I eat what I shoot. I was given some bear meat and was not impressed, kinda gamey/greasy.
IMHO if you want to hunt a bear and if you are willing to stalk it and kill it, wtf, its your call.
If you want to bait one and shoot it from a blind or hunt it with dogs, that is weak assed shit but again it is your call.
But you had damn well better be ready to eat some of the damn things carcass and when you skin it and realize how much it looks like a human with the skin off, well that is also your call.
Mountain Lions OTOH.....

Not a hunter but I’ve been watching that show with Steve Rinella called Meat Eaters, seems fish and game know what they are doing.
I have to admit, a week up in Alaska hunting fall sheep or Caribou looks awesome.
