You get 100 good days of weather a year in Chicago that are exclusively from June-Sept.

Rooftops and patios are much more enjoyable than bone-shattering cold and wind during the winter.

I do love visiting between Thanksgiving and Christmas though.

I'd say June, but I visited during July 4 not long ago and was blown away. Since fireworks are banned in the city, everyone and their offspring goes to load up on fireworks in Indiana and it's a freaking spectacle.

June is nice. Be sure and catch a game at Wrigley Field.

The architecture in that city is amazing and the museums fab. Then there is there are the resturants. Comparing big cities, I enjoyed Chicago a lot more than Manhattan for it's openess - not so packed in with wall-to-wall skyscrapers.

You're not kidding on both points.

I've never seen the kid so happy as the day we picked him up. BEGGING to come back for 4 weeks next year (which we will). I can't say enough great things about that place, the experiences he got and the clearly-evident change in his self-reliance after staying there.

Both of his aunts, my sisters, were counselors and sailing instructors at Seafarer and his cousins have been going for a few years now so he's jacked to be a part of the tradition.

Holy shit was it a long drive home though, but listening to him jammer on about everything he did for 8 hours in the backseat instead of zoning out on his devices was totally worth it.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the recent violence in that area is mostly gang related and off the main path for the most part.

It ain't just Chicago either NYC crime and shooting are up big time too..

Yeah, that's probably about right. Like much of the eastern half of the U.S. it can be a crap shoot, though. Could be sweltering or stormy during those months. I go every year the weekend after Labor Day and it's often very nice. I'd avoid July and August primarily due to the heat.

It was a joke and your facts are not factual. There are many cities way worse per capita than Chicago. Just a typical fox talking point of utter bullshit.

Chicago is a great town! Err City!

I think it's a good time to go. Autumn is often quite pleasant in the Great Lakes region. Probably a little too early for much foliage color, though.
