30` and calm bob with 1 3/8" of fluffy new flakes w/ more falling. The neighborhood fox has toured through already checking for rodents.

Hit some woods at around 2200' and found the skiing was ok, couple of inches of base with 6" of dense snow topper. Don't ski like a NEBC kook and it is fun. JH, maybe Brandon Gap would be similarly skiable?

I think you need to be more specific. There are 15 ski trails in New England named "Chute", and that jumps to 21 if you include six trails named “The Chute.”

He wasn't talking about ski trails. The Chute is a gay bar in Ludlow.

Thanks for the trip report. I'm going to Jay. Riding lifts Saturday. Only Jet is running but it's $48. Skin little jay Sunday. Probably stay at grampa grunt. My first time skinning jay. Tram not running so should be good. I am using the Strava heat map as a guide.

YMMV, in my experience Strava heat map doesn’t mean good snow, it means you’re following the masses.

Wide open to suggestions! Mostly using it to find the trailhead and the uphill route.

Jay has dedicated uphill routes. They are marked on the trail map.

My next suggestion, if it looks good, ski it, if you get lost on the down, skin up to your start. My last suggestion, if you find a spot with a lot of white plates and no green plates don’t ski it even if it looks good, park at the spot with all green plates.

Did three laps at Pico today.

Cant recall when was the last time i skied such nice snow - light, surfy and completely effortless.

They are opening on Sat - i would guess 85% of the mountain should be skiabe, not sure what they intent to open in terms of trails.

I can’t imagine the snow pack is worth the effort to access Little Jay but I could be wrong. I haven’t been out there in 10 years but lines were limited even mid season .... but a lot may have changed since then. I always accessed it the same way I exited Big Jay. There is a lot off 242.

Spend some time poking around the boundary line of Timbuktu on Sat and you should get a sense of what you’re dealing with.

    Have fun.

That's my plan. I have spent many a glorious day on that rope line. I have gone a little to far right and low on occasion and had to boot out to Jet. Miso Hungry!

This seems about right, but I could also be wrong. Seems early, but you won’t know unless u go. I was able to figure it out using only the goodman guide. Not too complicated.

Takes a good amount of snow to cover the upper elevation forest floor, lots of stumps, rocks ect. Didn't look inviting around here.

A solid 6 1/4" total from this storm bob. Heavy wind overnight likely provided a refresh in some areas and slab in others.

A couple of fast runs in the chop and a top2bottom non stop run to finish the day. Ran into one of the usual suspects at the base and confirmed he was responsible for the other tracks I saw yesterday

2830' earned, not bad for an old fuck. 9/10 for the last two days
