I’m not so much into dedicated touring skis but can tell you that I have seen a lot of M-Tours on Euro touring folks. Seem to be pretty popular among them. My Dynastar fanboi friend has them as well (included in his complete Dynastar freeride line) but this doesn’t mean to much because he gets factory deals on Dynastars. I really doubt he ever skied them this year.

Are Dynastars with an Atomic binding skiable at all?

    Ha!

I'm picking these up next week. If for some reason I don't like them, I'll pass them on to the mags!

Exhibit A - Bindings are a re-branded Salomon so still French. However, still not Pivots.

Exhibit B - MFree 108’s are French skis but made in Spain. Are they even really Dynastars?

Thanks Gaijin and Zomblibula. Damn, the LP105 wasn't there till 2012? I thought it was a much older ski, but I see the lineage to get to that point now. 2012 was basically when I started to get decent at skiing, after high school. I missed an entire era of gear that would have made me a better human.

Just a friendly bump to say that Corbetts still have a smoking deal on LP105s.

I'm glad Dynastar is keeping this beast in the lineup for now. I'll be snagging a backup pair this time next year.

I know...I keep looking at them and thinking “My hill is too small...Where will I actually use these?”

My local is small, and only 2000ft vert. Fast and rowdy 2000ft, though.

First day out on the 182 MF 108s. Started off crusty then softened up to more spring-like conditions.

It took me a bit to figure them out, especially trying to carve turns. They definitely prefer to slide and play are are quite loose. But on softer snow, they can be laid over. They just don’t have the bite at turn initiation of some other skis, but that probably contributes to their looseness. Once conditions softened up, the skis came to life and were a blast.

In 182, they’re definitely on the playful/nimble end of the spectrum. Unless you’re trying to rail GS turns, they are intuitive and easy.

MF108 where it belongs. Such a great ski. Skied them for 7 days in a row. Powder, glacier ice, corn, slush, anything. Wasn’t tempted to grab other ski.

Yup. I have only skied my BGs a couple times this season and haven't touched anything narrower all year. The MFree 108 has been the do it all ski for me all season. It's just so much fun. Loving the ripping high speed slush runs and boosting off the slurpee piles.

For those who have skied both 182 and 192 MF 108s, are the 192s just a longer version, or are there other differences?

Having the 172 and 192 at home, the midsection is quite a bit thicker on the 192. I imagine the 182 is in between. The rocker lines seem the same. More camber on the 192 than the 172. I haven’t skied the 172 but I imagine they all ski the same for the appropriate weight skier.

They will carve on relatively firm groomers. Just get forward.

I did something a bit crazy. Ordered the 192s (think I got the last pair on a deal). The 182s were awesome but I think more length would be even better. Given how short the 182s skied, I suspect the 192s will be about right.

I’m 6’2”/175 and noticed a definite difference between the 182cm and 192cm MFree 108 sizes. The 182cm was super surfy and playful with the 192cm being more planted. The 192cm was still easy to ski but has more of a backbone and was more stable at speed.

Think if you were around my weight or more I’d go 192cm.

Yeah I’m 5’8” 170 lbs, race background, though now washed up. I was looking for a ski that would be a bit looser for skiing trees at Whistler. The 182 is a blast sliding through tight spots - I haven’t been on a ski that agile since my 188 S7s 10+ years ago. I am thinking the 192s will preserve a similar feel while being more okay with being let to run. The looseness and playfulness I felt on the 182s is indeed something special.

Finally got back on the LP105s after they claimed my knee last year. Been skiing my clapped out old 184s. With a real tune on them instead of whatever bullshit was on them when I got them they rip! They still say Leg end on them but they’re so good. Honestly been a little nervous to get back on them, today was a good day for it.
But Ellen kicks ass - if she had a beard it would be much more haggard. -Jer
