You weren't alone Gary. I spent a precious few moments trying to recall if Michel was ever in the news for drug dealer associations.

I knew I was taking the risk of offending somebody with that one, but thought the reference would be so obvious to this crowd that that nobody would get too bent out of shape.

Apologies to anyone who was actually offended, and yeah Gary, I'd definitely take you up on beer offered, and of course, reciprocate.

We've just got to get this damned border open!

I'd rather see politicians from a science, engineering, healthcare, accounting, business, and military than a socialist bartender or drama teacher. Usually we just get lawyers in the US. The Chinese elect a have a lot engineers in government leadership.

Yeah mate, I hear you. My best buddy up here owns a fancy-ish wilderness lodge and does tours in a grizzly bear sanctuary. Needless to say business has not been good the last 1.5 years. Also, I'm booking a flight to JH in the next few hours, so they better open the fucking thing by January or Justin's going to hear from me damn it.

hmmm, thought provoking at least. Czech republic did it with a poet and I think that worked pretty good. You know, JT would be a guy that I could sit on a chair with, have a chat and shralp some pow. Not too many former Prime Ministers I could say that about, except maybe his dad. Therein lay perhaps the biggest problem I have with Justin. He got elected prime minister because of his pedigree. That just doesn't happen in Canada and it was reminiscent to me of a second fucking Bush getting in. The election of both of these "sons" smelt of banana republic to me.

I got the Aspen Extreme reference right away, loved it. I also got a Trudeau's brother out of it so bonus points. I know too many families who lost their entire livelihood in the early 80's because of PET's fucked economic policies. I've said it before and I'll probably say it again, I wish they had taken more family backcountry tips together. Justin's a puppet and the only reason "we" have vaccines in Canada is because the US rammed through whatever was needed to big pharma to get them developed. Giving him credit for anything other than legalizing pot is giving him too much. I've got enough friends to ski with I don't need to ski with a politician (or snowboard with him as the case may be).

i am so sick of supposed businesspeople thinking they can come in from some c-suite to save us. it’s every freaking election. the govt is supposed to represent us, it would be so much better if it represented the best of us: to have a teacher and a good student that won a science award looks a lot better than a kook from alaska or someone who polished off their ged before running in colorado. throw in some vets, people who care about public service scientists, priests, farmers... i don’t care. just no more megalomaniacs that think and say “i alone can fix this”. fuck em.

You drop so much sarcasm and bait in this thread it's a shame that you had to use the smiley. I for one appreciate it. Plus Ted Striker's Aspen Extreme drop had me literally LOL

From Wikipedia" Ocasio-Cortez attended Yorktown High School, graduating in 2007.[15] In high school and college, Ocasio-Cortez went by the name of "Sandy Ocasio".[16] She came in second in the microbiology category of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in 2007 with a research project on the effect of antioxidants on the lifespan of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.[17][18] In a show of appreciation for her efforts, the MIT Lincoln Laboratory named a small asteroid after her: 23238 Ocasio-Cortez.[19][20] In high school, she took part in the National Hispanic Institute's Lorenzo de Zavala (LDZ) Youth Legislative Session. She later became the LDZ Secretary of State while she attended Boston University. Ocasio-Cortez had a John F. Lopez Fellowship.[21]

After graduating from high school, Ocasio-Cortez enrolled at Boston University. Her father died of lung cancer in 2008 during her second year,[22][23] and Ocasio-Cortez became involved in a lengthy probate battle to settle his estate. She has said that the experience helped her learn "first-hand how attorneys appointed by the court to administer an estate can enrich themselves at the expense of the families struggling to make sense of the bureaucracy".[24] During college, Ocasio-Cortez served as an intern for U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy in his section on foreign affairs and immigration issues.[25] She recalled, "I was the only Spanish speaker, and as a result, as basically a kid – a 19-, 20-year-old kid – whenever a frantic call would come into the office because someone is looking for their husband because they have been snatched off the street by ICE, I was the one that had to pick up that phone. I was the one that had to help that person navigate that system."[25] Ocasio-Cortez graduated cum laude[26] from Boston University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both international relations and economics."

Maybe if there were more people in Congress with backgrounds like that there would be fewer people with backgrounds like that working as bartenders. And she's no socialist, no matter what she calls herself.

^ Thanks for that bio. I'd forgotten that Republicans also found some issue with the fact that she went by "Sandy," too.

I bought a season pass for Aspen when it was $549US and plan on spending 5 weeks gypsy-ing around the Roaring Fork Valley in my truck camper, so you are damn right that border better be open by 2022.

I am an anyone but Trudeau guy and if he had been a brick layer i would have got a hat that said: Make Trudeau a Brick Layer Again. I don't think that bricklayers would get as twisted about the hat as teachers.

I don't even mind Trudeau getting elected based on his famous father, I just wish Justin had inherited at least some of his father's intellect.

This is from an outside observer, so grain of salt, but having suffered under a president with neither intellect nor compassion, if I had to choose one, I'd choose the latter.

which is also the main reason the border is still closed

I meant an outside observer of Trudeau's performance as PM.

I was very much a blow by blow observer of how we got fucked over by a grifter, and his idiot offspring.

well JT ain't all that but i will take him in a heart beat over the rest especialy your lapsed president

all 31 pages can be condensed into > 600,000 dead, i still can't believe the lazzez fair attitude towards all them dead Americans

still less damage done on JT's watch than the rest

edit: in any case this wasnt so much about Trudeau cuz Canada had real epidemiologists they listened to while you had trump

By your logic, each world leader is responsible for the deaths included in this handy graph linked above.

The article explains Americans can vacation in France, where the one-dose vaccination rate is 49 percent, Spain, where the rate is 51 percent, and Greece, 45 percent, all much lower than Canada's rate.

I'm curious, can Canadians travel to France, Spain, and Greece right now? If so, do Canadians still have to quarantine upon return. I get it that Canadians delight in pissing off Americans, but I thought their love of international travel would overcome this.

They can, but have to quarantine when returning, although the quarantine order will be lifted on 7/5 for those who are vaccinated.
