He’s actually the only driver in the canyon who consistently chains up. If Sysco had any other driver in the canyon there would be a huge problem with food and for sure a worse driver. Now Sysco the corporation sucks. They consistently give him shit tires. Hence you’ll see him chaining up on day road at the mouth knowing it could be bad up high.
Good to know. I'm sure he is frustrated if he is a good guy trying to do his best. That makes me feel better than if he was some lazy POS who didn't really care about his job or its effects. Perhaps they could make their deliveries after 6:00 though, to minimize interactions with "rush hour".

What protocols did he change? I've heard that the new road surface had something to do with the increased accidents, but I'd be curious to know if he changed something in the way they operate that has lead to an increase?

Unfortunately, this is probably the biggest truth.

Not exactly sure what’s been changed as far as protocol. But I know there are some people frustrated with the Udot plow crew. And it seems that the road surface hasn’t been plowed as well i since the change. Just got word that UTA wasn’t using chains last night. So makes sense that 4 buses went off the road. I imagine with them running more buses this year that there are some new drivers. But not using chains is simply inexcusable. Skiing today is going to be great. Still thick in places but better snow quality than yesterday. Bundle up!

They certainly do have those chains which makes not using them beyond unacceptable

Alta was great today for day #2 of the season. Skied Sunnyside while waiting for Collins and wildcat to open. Did a two runs on Sugarloaf, then finished the day out on Collins. Left by 12 or so. This storm has done wonders for the snowpack. Total game changer from what it looked like a week or two ago.

Spent the morning inbounds, caught the Wildcat opening. Then ventured up to Catherine's. Today did not disappoint. Click image for larger version.

Yeah but not as bad as running to the creek on thanksgiving day as per TFW. Good catching a lift ride with him, and a killer morning on the kitty. JTran gets pitted Click image for larger version.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Snowbird didnt have bass highway to tram open today. Took all of lower wilbur out of the equation. WTF! Thought maybe death road would open but no. Big emma headwall was bumped up shitshow of collisions and groms missing skis. My kid hated his boots but smoked me in shuffleboard at the Cliff. Bobmc good call on staying home. Canyon Road was easy peasy today.

Pretty sure Mach Schnell ripped out on its own all the way to the creek the other day. Avalanche conditions are super scary. Bird has very complicated terrain. No need for patrollers to die so you can ski pow. Go to the backcountry if you want to take those risks.

Snowbird looked dreamy coming back down from Alta. Obviously, that's because no one is riding on the many avalanche routes they have. Yeah, no need to rush to get things open for late November riding.

I did see the crown along the west wall of mach schell, didnt know it went that far. Definately rowdy and I'd never encourage patrol to put their lives on the line more than they already get paid for on my behalf.

Shifting to working 2 days, five off.
And when someone needs time off.
And every day in an avy cycle like we've been in.
Not even on the printed schedule for the next 3 weeks.
The boss today: "I already have 7 extras on Sunday. I could use you more on Friday".
The boss every year at refresher: "Just right down the hours you want to be paid for".
Think I'm gonna listen to the latter and just right down the hours I want to be paid for...on Saturday and Sunday.
    Hope the schedule doesn't mind.
    Thanks for asking.
    Let's share some turns...
