I was hoping that super grippy snow would make it at least skiable. North facing was shit, low angle south facing was actually kind of fun. Super grippy snow on top of ice.

Top 3 Days of the Season at Smuggs today ripping groomers with 4 inches of supportive sand. Crowds didn't come out until 10. I wonder how hard their Holiday sales got hit with all of the other bigger resorts shuffling ticket prices. What a crazy snowpack reset. It's for the better anyway.

It was decent. I have never seen so many people there tho. ever. When we left at noon, there was zero parking and they were parking people out on the main road. Or triple parking. Just crazy

I can’t believe with that much time on the hill that you haven’t hit some of the fantastic powder we’ve enjoyed. Is Hunter getting out with the groomers too quickly?

EAST COAST ROLL CALL - Turn it up to 11

Probably not the best weekend to have booked a house on the north side. The fire n company is real nice tho. Less snow than in town here, but a little less destruction.

Touring spot was a no go Friday

Good xc in the woods today regardless.

Riding lifts and freezing balls off tomorrow (not complaining).

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

Maybe we warm up a bit for a day next week? Otherwise it just looks like cold and snow and that gets me all warm inside. I've only toured one day since the last rain event. I would guess the crust was about 3/4 of an inch above 2500' give or take and although I thought it may had dissipated over the weeks, it was very prevalent. That was on southwest facing slope. Gear choice may make a difference in dealing with the crust. I was on a very big, very heavy split and trying to maneuver through saplings was nearly impossible. Honestly, I enjoyed the tour more than the return. I've been wondering what kind of ski setup would be best for dealing with a thick crust layer.
Catching up - my wailer 112’s make the crust seem like it’s not there...

Lots of snow left north of Montpelier. All of the fields in the Kingdom are wall to wall and 2' snowbanks abound. Got out Near Auger rd. driving across the hills from Parker Pie to Wolcott and found supportive crust over a foot of snow. Would be a great time to explore new zones with easy travel.

The Numinous movie did not disappoint and if you haven't seen it, do it. No chatter, good music and sick skiing and cinematography.
Unfortunately had to mis Ten Bends due to a late start after deicing the truck.
