    ...a PSA.

Scammers spoofing more than a dozen federal government departments to defraud Canadians

    https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.5348659

Scam artists are using phone numbers from more than a dozen federal government departments to defraud Canadians — making it look as if the calls are coming from legitimate government agencies and police departments — CBC News has learned.
Some of the calls tell potential victims that their social insurance numbers have been compromised. Others are told that they owe the government money and are in legal trouble.
To deceive potential victims who examine the numbers on incoming calls, the scammers spoof their calls so that they display the phone numbers of the relevant federal government departments. In many cases, a scammer tells a victim they will be getting a call from a police officer — then spoofs the call that comes in a few minutes later so that it appears to be coming from local police.

I have had fun with these callers.

Once I told the women. "How can I owe taxes when I just got out of prison for murder" total silence then I ask "where you located. I want to met you" click

2nd was another women claiming to be from CRA. I said "I work for CRA, what's your employee number I'm front of my computer" click

This guy did a great job messing with this scammer

Click-happy toddler wins parents a trip to Tokyo

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmon...okyo-1.5354584

When Lee Tappenden got a call from his cable company telling him he'd won a free trip to Japan, he thought it was a scam.
He felt this way despite the Shaw employee's assurance that the Edmonton father was the grand prize winner of a summer contest the company ran for anyone who ordered the movie Alita: Battle Angel.
"I was very confused because I was still sleeping and I didn't know what was going on," he said.
It didn't make sense, because neither he nor his wife Amy Tappenden had ever seen the movie.
And then it clicked: the culprit was their 20-month-old son, Anthony Tappenden.
"He loves playing with the remote, and pushing buttons over and over again. And sometimes we just let him do it," he said.
Tappenden did some investigating and the movie, a 2019 futuristic tale about a cyborg named Alita, was ordered during the day when it was just his toddler and wife at home alone.
Anthony hasn't been able to confirm or deny making the purchase because he's still working on his vocabulary. Whatever his motivation, the result is that his parents get to fly to Tokyo and stay in a four-star hotel for a week. The prize also includes a $500 prepaid gift card for spending money.
The couple has never been to Japan before, but Tappenden said he and Amy have daydreamed about travelling there after they've raised a family and retired.
Anthony will be staying at home in the care of grandparents, but his mom and dad are planning to bring back a nice souvenir for him.
The couple are still working on arranging dates for their trip.

They made my wife confirm that our daughter lived with us for 10 years. They wanted so much info. Some of it was impossible to provide because it didn't exist. The just kept demanding the same stuff over and over. They wanted a note from her doctor, at 16 she had never been to a doctor so that was not possible. Apparently they didn't believe us. Those fuckers hassled us for over a year. I guess her having a passport with our address since she was about 1yo wasn't worth anything.

I believe he lived out in the middle of nowhere for sometime. That may be the reason.

Born at home. Never got sick other than minor shit. I put that down to growing up on a farm, playing in chicken coops and the like must have booted her immunity.

Not middle of nowhere, 10 minutes from town of 9000. So, not far from nowhere. Red Mt & Whitewater within 50 minutes, both of those are nowhere ski hills not worth visiting.

    At what, 80+ years old?!?!
Does he auction those blazers or stash them away until he passes?
Perhaps he wanted to be fired.
