Another "Weird Found Shit" thread. Basement Edition
So I bought my house in '95 from a weird family. The dad had been a Boeing electrical engineer and had handed off the to their kids who trashed it. I bought it at something of a discount because there was a lot of stuff left behind, there was no kitchen. There were a half-dozen file cabinets full of Boeing files (anyone remember the hydrofoil?) in the basement.
Among other crap, there was some interesting stuff in the shop. I tossed tons (literally,3) of stuff early in the game, but some things I kept because they were just interesting or unknown, or I just couldn't figure out what to do with them. I'm going through it all again to get ready to toss. I thought some of you might find it entertaining. If you're local and want anything LMK.
There's more than I posted of course.
The little boxes in the last two pics are some kind of magnetic electrical shim. Each box weighs like 4 pounds. WTF?
If you know what the red knob is you're geezer like me. Used to have one on my '63 Chevy Stepside.
The big round gauge thingy is a mystery. It's some kind of time graphing instrument with a paper template inside and little arms that must have once marker the paper. WTF?

The 0-360 range made me think it was some angular measurement over time like for tracking satellites or whatever. Looks like it's a pressure gauge based on a little Google action.

Pressure, temperature, relative humidity, whatever you needed to keep an eye on over time. It has hours marked on the outer edge, and the paper would rotate slowly while the needle would record the data.

I'd take the graph disk if it's available.

As a descendant of hoarders of weird shit, I'll bet the old man would be stoked that his treasures are being disseminated to random enthusiasts. Nice.

Be careful with that microfilm. It’s probably some Cold War NOC list and now that they know you have it you’ll be hunted down and killed for it.

I don't think the old man is alive anymore, but considering he left it all in the basement I doubt he would have much of an opinion.
I can't get the tops off the microfilm and don't want to destroy the containers. I'm certain those labels are som code for nuclear secrets.
Shotgun's loaded and ready.

FKNA right? Once when I was there I was told my dad was going to owe someone a lot of money if I didn't carry my huge lengths of tube more carefully. Pretty sure I was 19 at the time, but it seemed to give the old guy some joy and Iwas buzzing on Surplus Glee, so I just walked on to the polycarbonate sheets. I still have a couple of those tubes.

I'll take the suicide knob if it still spins and you are willing to flat rate box it. Of course I'll pay shipping.

Funny you should mention that. These wackos did the same thing, but it was a gross mess. Dead rats, broken grow lights, discarded plant material and dirt. There were also some panties stuffed up in the floor joists.
When I tore out the main floor bathroom wall during the early remodel, I found - INSIDE the wall, as in, sealed up - a bunch of early eighties porn mags and vids. I seriously could go on and on about the weirdness.

I've been in your house and I'm pretty weird. Does that work for you, Leroy?
