As a total Phish JONG, last night was easily one of the best live shows I've ever seen across all genres and venues. Good times.

Cheese and Phish are different limbs on the same tree. They come from very different routes and I'd expect that they don't have a lot in common musically other than they jam and they were dead heads at one time. Cheese are pickers and come from a bluegrass and jazz mindset, IMO. Phish are much more eclectic and like wailing tension and release high energy jams that explore dissonance, new wave and modes of music other than major/minor. Trey and Kang each have great styles, same with Kyle v Page. Phish has the clear advantage in drum and bass. SCI has Nershi and his great tone and songwriting. They both are friggin awesome.

I'll be seeing the Harford and SPAC shows and it will interesting to see how the boys have meshed since the beginning of the tour.

I saw the Jones Beach shows and Mansfiled as was impressed.

After over 100 shows you would think I would have grown up already ...NOT

Just got back from the Gorge and it was awesome. The band is in great spirits and chi-town should go off! Never saw so many stessed out scalpers before...karma's a bitch, ain't it! People litterally couldn't give their extras away. Mike's bass never sounded so good.
Highlights for me include: It's Ice, Makisupa, Pebbles and Marbles, and of coarse my son's first show.

First time at the Gorge. Super nice weather, venue is pretty cool, couldn't decide if I like RR more or not. Camping is off the hook, damn what an all night party. Shows were not full- a little empty space at the top corners of the lawn. Everyone sounded GOOD. I stopped listening to them (as much) in 99 and they sound just as good or better than then. Sound was great, Mike got some funk on, Trey kept the trey show going which was fine with me.

First night was more jammy, second was more high energy. I preferred the second night overall.

Surprised and pleased to hear: Destiny Unbound, Sneakin Sally, Mango, Ya Mar, It's Ice, GTBT

Highlights: Rock n Roll, YEM w vocal jam and tramps, Wolfman's, Antelope, Ocelot, Fluffhead

So wish I could go see a few more shows!

    The Gorge fucking ROCKED!

Sound was insanely good and almost too loud second set yesterday. Mike dropped the SERIOUS heat.

    Funny side note:

Was walking down shakedown yesterday (total madhouse) and literally ran right into Mike as he was taking his traditional pre show stroll thorough the lots. I slapped him on the back and said, "Mango Song, sir" as I passed by.

Needless to say I lost it during the opener!

I haven't listened to the Gorge shows, but how did they compare to Red Rocks?

I love the first night, just listened to set 1 night 2 and it's not as good as night 1 but still decent. I think night 1 gorge is my fav. 2009 show.

The seventh was defenitely my favorite show of 2009. It was unreal: Down With Disease, Ocelot, Pebbles and Marbles, Possum....

Didn't see any RR shows but my driver who saw all four and both at the Gorge needs to recover first before comparisons can be made. It's hard getting back to US society where heady burritos aren't being bartered at every turn.
