Alders and Ashes are just turning here, but I haven't seen or heard a Goldfinch in almost a week. Usually they'd be all over our sunflowers well into October fueling up for their migration. I don't know if it was the smoke or they know something we don't know.

97F, sunny and dry on the central Cal coastline. That is our turn, when summer finally arrives, winter is right around the corner.

Weather forecast to go down to mid 70's this week. Maybe that is the beginning of "Locals Summer" for the next few months.

I'm not quite sure when it happened, but the first of the turns, when it becomes clear that autumn is imminent, is here.

Cool cloudy skies, earlier sunsets, and a chance of Seattle drizzle means that the pendulum is moving back toward the quiet of winter.

Woke up this morning and my outdoor thermometer read 44. Usual overnight lows this time of year are mid 50s, so this definitely feels like the turn around here.

No really cold nights yet but the geese are on the move. Every night at dusk there’s at least one flock flying low over the house looking for a spot to spend the night as they head south.

Anyone else feeling the loss of watching for the first issue of Powder in the mailbox?

That has been part of 'the turn' for me since the early-80's...feels weird to know it ain't coming.

    I finally don't sweat shit buckets after I take a warm/hot shower.

Lake Tahoe shrinks my balls when I swim.

Hopefully, but it seems like we regularly get some 100 degree days in October (inland).

Aspens are turning and the past couple days have been tangibly cooler in Mammoth. Drove through Bridgeport two nights ago and it was ~42 degrees at ~11.

Yep. I noticed it was 71 here (yay area indoors), instead of 72, felt the chill. And then I see someone made a new turn thread in the PR. Hope it's a good sign. Unusual that summer had no 100 degree days or 75 nights.
