I should probably be sending you royalties after all the guys I’ve turned onto that trick since that thanksgiving week sufferfest on the southy! Staple gear for me these days. Shit....I passed out a handful just this week and have more believers!
I am grateful for that trick!

2019 maggot fish gazing and shit talking

Those of you that know me prolly know I have a perma hard on for lake feeshin in the spring and fall. Especially lakes I know well.

Given most of you fellas take lots of pics and post quality shots of fish I feel kinda bad with two grip and grins but I don’t take pics usually. We took pics of the first two fish. The following 4 hours were the best cutthroat catching of my life! On any body of water...moving or still, ever. Phones were not pulled from pockets after theses shots. Just hootin, hollerin and giggles for us. Browns and Mack’s sprinkled in. Biggest fish of my season by far. Doubles on almost every good boat position.

I really need to get out on some flat water with you one of these days! A Spelly shout out! I haven't seen him in a while. I will be at the Irwin pad for a few weeks over Xmas (12/20 -1/3), lets get out, maybe a Southy float? Lets put those latex gloves to work!

Class #2 and I showed up with a high$$$$ vice thanks to a very generous skifishbum. I made the Yellowstone Clubbers look bad with their cheap gear compared to mine.

Big bonus was 3 chicks in the class. Same MILF as last time, plus 2 single chicks in their 30’s. Plus same 2 kids plus a table full of long hair stoners in their 20’s. Those guys are funny, baked as fuck, smelling like weed, but they are super serious about fly tying.

We tied streamers ! Mine came out like shit, but I bet I can catch a fish with them.

That's awesome stuff, Suit! I'm hoping to get my dad out for a fly fishing trip next fall. He actually taught me to fly fish as a teenager, but probably hasn't swung a fly in 30 years now. Getting ready to ship him out a new 6WT setup and a gift certificate for casting lessons (to get the rust off) as a Christmas present.

I know all about Euro nymphing, but have never heard anyone actually describe the nymphs that way. I just figured maybe Tungsten heads or jig-style hooks:

But your flies look like standard patterns. So what makes a Euro-nymph Euro?

I have no idea, maybe The Huge Flyfisherman can post up a video about the subject ?

Euro style nymphs generally have a large bead and a slim body with little or no hackle, often tied on a jig hook. Often tied in-the-round, like no top or bottom with a wing case or whatever.

Harry, the tails on your nymphs are way too long.

Shooting the euro nymphing video next month. We're going to the San Juan for a couple days, if anyone is interested. PM me.

Harry, you could check our fly fish food for tying videos. They have lots of euro nymphos, if that’s what you’re into. They do the trick for me when the action is down under.
