My brother got smashed at Park City in January. Guy just skied away and left him lying there, which is a felony in Utah. Three broken ribs and likely concussion. Pretty much ended his ski season. He thinks it might have been intentional but obviously it's way more likely it was a gaper.

Speaking of Park City, my sister was the initial sole witness to a teenage snowboarder fall off a lift this past week to the tune of ~40' She was the first one to him and he was alert and conscious but hurt bad. I have caught a little of the commentary on the trial whie innocently channel surfing and it's striking how idiotic the talking heads--who admit they don't ski--are about skiing, skier responsibility, etc. Then you realize that these same talking heads are just as ignorant about virology and epidemiology, about economics, and that their statements on these subjects are certainly just as idiotic. But then ignorance has never stopped anyone from expressing an opinion about anything. After all, if we don't excercise our right to free speech. even if we have nothing to say, we could lose it.
