Local body repair shop tagline: “We meet by accident.”

Always thought that was cute, though I don’t imagine it’s original.

I’m with option C. - it was AN accident. I suspect “on accident” is meant to be the opposite of “on purpose,” but the opposite of purpose isn’t accident.
    focus.

What's the full sentence that justifies On?
I think "on accident" is used as a synonym for mistake in situations where the result is the actual "accident" and was not triggered by an accident. For example, I was sitting in the chair watching a movie and I shat my pants ________. Choose one of "by accident", "on accident", or "by mistake".

On accident is something younger generations say, because they’re stupid.

The punishments are pretty weak as well, misdemeanor and a chance at a felony with only 3 years attached (for the dog part)? I know he’s facing a bunch of other stuff, but my emotional response is aligned w something much more severe.

It fucking annoys me when the photo doesn't match a news story, especially when it comes to seasons.

I say by accident when serious, and on accident when not.

I say BY accident. Those ON accident people can die in a grease fire.
always thought "On Accident" was satire or sarcasm

"By Accident" was a way to admit something went wrong without claiming responsibility or accusing fault

That's my understanding. And if it isn't divided, it should at least be wide. I have too many broken dreams to fit on a narrow road.

That "on accident" shit like when people leave out the verb "to be" as in "this blanket needs washed". It's fine if they say it as long as they're okay with being sterilized.

How the fuck did that guy who shot the dog get away? He was nodding out, in a car. Then suddenly he's running away and nobody can catch him? wtf.

I always thought both of these sayings were a mid-west thing, like Ohio, where a lot of people tend to be on the stupid side.

This has probably already been covered, but how about those dumb motherfuckers that use "should of" instead of "should have"?

My inner grammar-Nazi thrashes around every time that happens, and it takes every ounce of willpower to not go apeshit.

And yes, I'm looking directly at some posters 'round this here forum.

That one drives me nuts. It's literally this fucking stupid:

    "I could have nuts"
"I've got some peanut butter in the kitchen"
"What? I can't have nuts, I'm allergic. Didn't you hear me?"

I hate this usage and it seems like a more recent coinage, I think I only started hearing it in the last 10 years or so. I've been told it's a midwest thing.
