Isles need Barzal and their offense to wake back up. They fell asleep in March, but warmed up in time for the playoff run thus far, but looking flat against Tampa.
Gotta get this one at home tonight.

Go Isles, the barn ain't done yet!!!

Fleury had a bad night all around--he looked frantic the whole game or at least when Montreal bothered to get a shot on goal. When you have twice as many shots on goal (and at least a couple of posts) and lose it means their goaltender was better than your goaltender. To give the guy credit, it is true that his puck handling was a big reason Montreal had trouble setting up a forecheck. (Like Pierre or someone said immediately before he blew that handle)

I was thinking yesterday morning how Vegas has gotten by without Fleury getting truly hot, which is good, as long as they can survive long enough for him to catch fire. A hot goalie in the finals is the dream, but only if you can get there.

He’s certainly had a couple of head scratchers lately.

He seemed pretty hot in 5 and 6 against the Avs.

Anyway, go Habs. Can't stand Vegas for a host of reasons, even before they took the Avs out.

Isles had one great period, and hung on by a thread. Very glad that didn't go to OT.
Fucking crazy finish. Great move by the tampa guy see Varly out, but dang, that block was fucking brilliant and lucky as hell.

McDonagh was robbed at the end of the game. Glad to see the Islanders get the W. They are my rooting interest to hoist the Cup.

Vegas needs a W tonight too.

Habs have been jumping too, but Lehner has stood up so far.

Pierre got it right for once--VGK missing the net looking for the perfect shot against Price. Maybe tonight's win will convince them to put the puck on net.
Fleury had to be exhausted the previous game. I've never played goal but if the up down of goaltending is anything like laying a floor it's tough for a guy in his 30's. Lehner played a third of the regular season games.
Hockey experts--has anyone ever played goalies in shifts during games as a routine?

I've never seen it. At any level. I would think it would require wholesale rewiring of a goalies brain and how they get their head in the game.

Agreed. Goalies need to stay warm. Constantly swapping them in/out would not keep them loosened up enough and I think it would be hard for them to keep focus.
Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

    Brain? What brain?

Maybe it's coaches brains that need rewiring. Pitchers were once expected to pitch 9 innings if they were winning. OTOH NHL stats don't show more goals scored in the 3rd period.

In recent years they've started pulling the goalie for a 6th skater sooner. Wasn't it Roy who started that with the Avs?

Saw a Sharks game--0-6 at the start of the 3rd. They switched goalies and won.

    NHL 2021 Season

After game one the Habs turned it up and Vegas hasn’t been able to respond.

This is coming from me as a Vegas fan, too. They need to figure it out fast

Welp… I fully wrote off the habs, Vegas seemed too strong. I hate that old larry might be right, and that’s the worst part. I’m used to losing, life time Leafs fan, so the fucking islanders will probably win too just to spite me.

I'm all in on Habs bandwagon. I can't believe I'm supporting a team with Corey Perry on it, but the Habs are just so fun to watch and are the underdog story of the playoffs.
