No man we skied a steep couloir loaded with 2-4' of thick snow in the high alpine after widespread facet issues, why would we dig a pit?

I assume this is sarcasm, but it's hard to tell.

Heads up - seeing lots of posts on vehicle break-ins on Mt. Rose Hwy at the Tamarack pull-out over the last week. Reports suggest it might be a red Tacoma.

After beginning the season with high pressure and rain, the possibility of getting over a foot of snow looks like hard core porn . Bring it on cause we need it. I am sure it will dump good because I will be out of town.

FWIW S aspects at AM were soft at about 11 today. Where no one had skied there was a thin, easily breakable easily turnable crust.

Skied Shasta today. Went up avalanche gulch, to Helen lake. Got there around 8:30. Continuos ice chunks falling. Since I got hit by one three years ago in the same spot, I decided that it wasn't worth it to continue.
Snow was really firm, edgeable though. Firm from wind, I think, but there were a few sun glazed spots as well.
Good coverage, skinned from bunny flat.
If not for the ice bits falling, I would've skied Trinity chutes, they looked awesome, but of course all the rocks were covered in ice or snow, so I think the ice fall will continue for a bit.
West face looked good too, and maybe safer.
Actually, felt like a wimp for turning around, the ice chunks looked kind of mellow, zipping by me. But then I thought, if these were rocks, I would've turned around a long time before.
And ice chunks hurt as much as rocks.
Lassen North side looked good too, there looked like it avalanched, not 100 percent sure though.
Lassen could be a slog though.
