Got out for a sweaty trail work day today. Rock work pictured not my own but pretty cool. Mostly worked on some benching going into a berm in some steep sidehill terrain.

It looks like you can still register, but then no, no you can’t. Capping it at 75 seems small, the original plan was for 200, which is still pretty small. Oh well, maybe next year. At least You’re enjoying the ride!

4+ inches of rain yesterday in DownEast Maine have washed out several sections of the Carraige Roads in Acadia closing about half of the system. I rode about 15 miles of mostly undamaged sections with a park employee last night and he said budget shortfalls and lack of maintenance staff will cause delays in repairs.
Im going to go try and poke around a bit more today to get to the really badly hit areas he told me about.

That water damage is brutal, so much work involved to fix it. Subbase, base and compacted stone dust topper equals a lot of labor and transfer of materials on narrow paths.
The dumbass jump/flow trail that was built in the backyard last summer had severe washouts this spring due to poor layout and construction methods.www.apriliaforum.com

2021 NE - Flatten That Berm
What a cool event the Analog 4x4 was yesterday. The small group meant chatting with folks was easy. There were lots of unique bikes - fully refurb’d 1983 Ross 26’er MTB was a fave of mine. Drop bar fat bikes, 0mm offset stems, mustache bars, and at least one fully home made frame.
Final tally was 41.4 miles, 4,340’ elevation over lots of rough class 4 road.
Mrs biggins and Mrs P confirming the direction.
The rain on Friday night made the course greasy.
Hiking up a steam bed with biggins leading the way.
The second half started with a spin on the SVT Fairground trails.
I expected Mrs P to kill me for signing her up to ride this, but she kept a smile almost the entire time (she crashed on a wet rock with 4 miles to go).
Two major highlights - seeing a momma duck walk her dozen ducklings across the road, and seeing the one guy totally kitted out in spandex (it was more cut off jeans and Hawaiian shirt crowd) taking a nap on a large rock. It was just that kind of day and that kind of ride.

Looks like an awesome ride. It’s getting hard to find gravel rides that don’t take themselves too seriously.

Ugly water damage but it did create a lot of natural berms

Analog Cycles is raaaaaaaaaaaaad. Count me a huge fan of those folks, and the whole scene out on the Western flank. Super fun day, though I cheesed out after lunch, so I must wear my hair shirt until I complete a proper suffer fest, Peruvian style. Still fun though

Peruvian did the sufferfest in a hair shirt?!??!??
I am intrigued and disturbed at the same time.

Road closures providing an opportunity to link together some more obscure loops isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Nice and cool this evening down in the hollow.

Ah, now it all makes sense. Sounds like the 4x4 was a great ride. Have to put it on the calendar for next year.
