Hmmm yeah thats what she said, but she didn't say anything about laxatives, just that food... she definitely doesn't get enough water thats for sure.

Heidi's not doing great today, she just hacked up an alien life form (or possibly a hairball) and then she was just sitting there, out of it, breathing way too fast (~75 a minute by my count) and the breathing was coming from her ribs/haunches, not her chest. Was debating the Animal Hospital but she seems to have come out of it somewhat, her breathing has slowed down, and she seems pretty happy.. Man. WTF. Time for some blood work I think (we use a vet that comes to our home, she does routine exams but no blood work)

The last year for Fat Face was a lot of throwing up and struggle eating. The doc said it’s like having a bad hangover all the time. Was I selfish for keeping him going?

    Awesomeness!

Kitty in the last pic has his hackles up. He likes what he smells. That nip is very pungent.

Sorry for all the sick cats! Life is tough.

Of course there are still all the feral or semi-domesticated cats all over the world.

We gave to the branch of the Greek Society for Protection of Animals on Naxos where they have sterilized and vaxed thousands of cats and dogs and set up feeding and watering stations all over the island. A notable improvement from our past visits with far fewer sickly and starving animals to be found.

Vibes to the old kitties and all their woes.
We also have an extremely picky old man at the house who refuses to touch most foods. Dry stuff is out of the question, tuna doesn't interest him, same for salmon skin. He will occasionally eat wet food but only the chunky kind, never pâté, and it better be dark meat. He's been starving himself lately and was getting so dehydrated his eyes looked sunken. We found a form of bone broth that he really likes and that at least takes care of hydration. He'll eat wet food if we mix it with the broth and make it super soupy.
His teeth are fine, his bloodwork is fine, the vet is at a loss. He seems perfectly content and doesn't act odd. Hell, I was working on the bike yesterday and he climbed up on the tool bench for pets then got bored and knocked down a couple wrenches then attacked a bag of zipties. Normal cat stuff.

Other house kitties continue to be weirdos:

Diamond Joe, might be worth a test for this with your kitty.

I was given Marbles (AKA the cat that lives in the Garage) in about 2008. She was maybe 1.5 years old when she moved in and has been a fixture round the place since then. I am guessing she is now about 13-15 years old now, pretty good when you consider all the eagles and owls in the hood.

This summer she has stopped eating dry food, I managed to get a look and most of her teeth are gone. She is now on wet food while I try and figure out what next. She has had a good run but will be missed when she is gone.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Cats can do just fine without teeth. My GF had to have almost all of her cat's teeth pulled due to disease.

Not worried about the lack of teeth. 13-15 seems pretty mature for a cat that has lived her entire life outside. Even when its -15 out she doesn't like to spend the night inside the house.

ETA: How do folks think such a cat will handle the idea of an apprentice Garage Cat?

Cats will sort out the situation and if the "apprentice" is young enough he/she/them will accept the understudy role until the chance to be "top cat" arises.
