Got my 3rd day out on the Countach 104 at Sugarloaf today. Bulletproof underneath with 4”-8” of light powder. Had first tracks out of the gate and they did well enough, but weren’t the most floaty or surfy. I would have much preferred my Deathwish 112 for the first run. Things got tracked up fairly quickly and the CT really started to shine. They are intuitive and a ton of fun in tracked up snow. Minimal deflection when let out to run with plenty of support to hold their line when things got really rough. These shine the most in variable, and will likely replace my DW 104 for small accumulation on a firm base. “Skinny” DW will be saved for days when ice skating between powder pockets isn’t necessary.

Adding another data point on CT110s after skiing them in everything from refrozen rain crud to 25 cm of untracked pow. I'm on the 182s and have spent lots of days on 190 Bibbys and 190 DW. Overall impression is that these are quick and lively compared to my old Bibbys, don't give up much in the stability department, and are fun as hell. Edge grip and carving performance/fun on groomers is significantly higher than Bibby or DW. It's fairly easy to hit reasonably high edge angles on groomers that aren't bullet proof. Edge grip feels predictable and there is good pop exiting turns. Stability and dampness aren't metal ski territory, but they're both high enough to allow for comfortable skiing at high speeds on rough surfaces. Pow performance is surprisingly good. I wouldn't reach for these on a pow day, but I wouldn't be sad if I arrived to one with these on my feet. The tips float well and the skis are loose enough to be maneuverable at less than flat out speed. I'd put pow performance ahead of the DW and maybe slightly behind the Bibby. Performance in chopped pow/crud is very good. Maybe slightly less stable than the Bibby, but the pop out of the tails makes it easy to gap bumps and pop off of piles, the quickness makes it easy to change direction/line things up on the fly, and the dampness and stability support skiing fast and help erase mistakes. These traits translate to bump performance as well. Easy to pivot, easy to gap, there for you when your mind writes cheques your skills can't cash. I was on the fence with sizing, but put faith in Moment's sizing guide (places me squarely on the 182) and have been very happy with the added maneuverability and quickness over the 190 Bibby and DW. If this was my pow ski I would size up, but I don't think that's the best use of this ski. I think this is a very good daily driver for locations that aren't typically bullet proof for skiers who prioritize off piste performance in a wide range of conditions. This is the ski that I always wanted the DW to be. Nothing against the DW, it just never really ticked this box for me. What this means for my old Bibby remains to be seen, but I don't see skiing them all that often with these in the barn and having better options for true pow days.

The description of those seem to suit the skier I am not. I want them. Except, I am the point in my quiver where I am agonizing on which ski to take out tomorrow. Its a good problem to have but I feel like my ON3P Jeffs fill the spot of this particular ski. Also, I am not a Moment OG.

Flat bottom screams I need them. I’m all about that flat side. Meridians and ghost trains are two of absolute cold dead hand skis. ??

The marketing copy from that OG link left me with this impression— keep in mind that it’s Christmas, and I’m sober with my kids, so I’m not entirely in my Gaijin-rant skin—

The OG is NOT anything you think it should be. It probably has you wondering what it is. It’s from 20 years ago, when whatever this is was cool. But it’s cooler now?

Something. Something. Arms flailing or something. I don’t know.

    What now?

“It’s called fashion. Look it up.”

    Gotcha.
    ———

I mean, I wouldn’t say fire your marketing team. That old visage is a bit overblown. But maybe have a chat about how to use commas and question marks. It seems the most basic of grammatical structures is lost on whoever wrote this.

We used to call that dialect Valley Girl. Now we call it Upspeak— where every sentence rises up in intonation until it ends in an undeclared statement of inquiry? Like— this is what is wanted? Leaving the receiver to think/say: "No. I’m not going to answer your sentence."

Even Florida, above… ends his post with two random question marks lingering … is that some lost teenage love asking if there’s still a chance? knees shaking side-to-side.

Moment, if you can remake this ski, you can remake the Garbone/M1. You've done it before, and you can do it again...

What bindings are you going to use. Have any forza 2.0 lying around?
Though I'm cool with forzas on my daily drivers (and damn those look freaking sick), I'm more of a Slam-On guy when it comes to pow. Likely going with Shift 2.0s to at least give the option to tour.

I have a pair of CT110 unmounted thanks for the review. I have DW too and I have tried to like this ski.

can confirm this sentiment. been on a buddy's pair of OGs and three laps was enough to send me running back to my 2015s.

I’m trying to mount up my new chipotle blades before a ski trip next week. I know Moment recommends a 3.6x9 drill bit set but I have a 3.5x9.5 bit at home and with slow Christmas shipping I don’t think I can get a new one delivered to me in time. Is 3.5x9.5 close enough for rock n roll? Dumb question yeah I know lol

I just mounted my C92's with the 3.5X9.5 instead of the recommended 3.5X9.0. The only thing I did was make sure the drill did not go though the bases. 0.5 mm is 0.019685 inches. I can't see that making a difference. Still better than doing it with a tape stop, which I did plenty back in the day.

Been on my WC108s for a couple years now but can't get enough of this ski. Went from DD in Steamboat to DD at Baker and they have been crushing it. Sometimes I almost think I could get away with just having a quiver of one. That is all.

100% agree. If I wasn’t a sicko with more than a few pair, the WC108 is the best 1-quiver option that Moment has, in my plebeian opinion.

Well, the ski had a soft flex. This is the ski the chain skiing for me and convinced me that rocker could be used every day. I got my first pair of these in 2009. Moment had some issues with some top sheets on some and had some blemish pairs with new top sheets on them. When I got them, I didn’t mount at -3 1/2 I mounted at -5 per Luke’s recommendation. I was blown away by the ski I skied for the next year and a half. And then I did something dumb and ended up repping for ninth Ward skis so I ended up selling everything I had. Needless to say I regretted it a few years later got another pair skied those for two years and then ended up doing some work for WSD/Hinterland. While the ski is very much a jib style ski with the flat camber it skis the whole mountain incredibly well. I’ve never skied the trees faster in my whole life and I think that’s due to the tail rising higher than the tip. The flex is nice. It’s just such a fun ski. A few weeks ago I was having a conversation with Luke Over Instagram and he was talking about bringing it back. I had recently picked up a pair from the 09/10 season they’re pretty beat. Oh man I hope I could scratch enough to buy a pair of these especially with how moments construction has improved over the years and I think this is so cool and I’ve wanted them to bring this back for years. This was all talk to text so I hope it all makes sense.

If ski companies didn't make new skis every year I wouldn't have to get new skis every year.

Doesn't sound like my kind of ski at all. The Meridian on the other hand... Totally.

Had another amazing pow day on the DW yesterday. I'm constantly amazed by how hard you can push that ski in chop. Float, surf, rip through trees, stand on it in chop and then carve back to the chair. It's hard for me to imagine a better ski.

I'll get on the WC108 at some point. I'm sure I'll like it, also.

Welcome aboard. Had the same experience on an iced out day at Brian Head last year, couldn't take the smile off my face. Never going back.
