I'm not sure where this one belongs. It's amusing, but not really. It's annoying on many levels. And the guy could be a POS for directly and indirectly endangering other people by fucking with an ambulance, a resource that might have saved someone else in need. https://www.wcax.com/2023/11/10/burl...ding-overdose/

The crimping down the wings of the zipper slider trick buys you some time, but the real fix with coil zippers is to replace the zipper slider, which usually isn’t that hard. On tents in particular (which see a lot of slider wear because zipper coils typically have dust particles all over them and probably don’t get washed very often), replacing zipper sliders is a routine job like replacing tires on a car (yes, even on the less lightweight tents than use #8 zippers).

Do we have a thread for "things that piss you off?"

LBGTQ issues aside - these ppl call themselves educators? Well they aren't very well educated when it comes to the history of theater and the fact that there was a time when only men were allowed to be on stage and played all parts male & female. Assholes.

During covid I shared a gondola with someone with wicked halitosis... I just calmly pulled my mask back up.

    Those masks had other benefits.

That's silly. You'd have to think it's like Christmas lights, in that you'd want to hang them up before it gets too cold and you have cold hands all day.

Our Sacramento neighborhood has wealthened (is that a word) to the point where everyone except us hires someone to put up xmas lights on the eaves. That's right up there with hriing someone to set up your camp at Burning Man and then clean your shit after.

It's easier and cheaper to be like me and get one of the kids to halfheartedly throw a string of white lights on the yew bushes out front.

I think like this and then every time I'm on my roof/ladder doing something I think "it's really going to suck if I fall, I should pay someone to do this".

If I was going to pay someone I would just have permanent lights installed. I think those are cool and you can program them to be different colors for all the holidays

Yeah, but then you'll have someone in here commenting on how annoyed they are that their neighbor hasn't taken down their holiday lights.

My wife - she wanted to be the Christmas Police and hand out citations for Xmas light displays after Jan 5th. I was going to get her a pad of citations to issue, but never got around to it.

Neighbors (the more recent additions to the ‘hood) have asked me why I don’t hire someone for yard work and such.

Did you tell them to get off your lawn?
