The crimping down the wings of the zipper slider trick buys you some time, but the real fix with coil zippers is to replace the zipper slider, which usually isn’t that hard. On tents in particular (which see a lot of slider wear because zipper coils typically have dust particles all over them and probably don’t get washed very often), replacing zipper sliders is a routine job like replacing tires on a car (yes, even on the less lightweight tents than use #8 zippers).

Not my step dad, just mom consort. I found out a lot of stuff in the last 2 weeks of my mom's life and I'm kind of bent with him right now so we'll see if I can get over it, but he's doing the best he can to box up books and clothes and try and get the house ready for his departure

Ugh. Eating tacos minding my own business at a bar yesterday when mouth-breathing 30-something dude sits down 2 chairs away. Within seconds I get the whiff- halitosis. Fucking gnar, like chronic. This wasn't smoker's or garlic breath. I moved two more seats down but the damage was already done. So nasty. Hopefully somebody will eventually have the heart to tell him he got death breath.

During covid I shared a gondola with someone with wicked halitosis... I just calmly pulled my mask back up.

Our Sacramento neighborhood has wealthened (is that a word) to the point where everyone except us hires someone to put up xmas lights on the eaves. That's right up there with hriing someone to set up your camp at Burning Man and then clean your shit after.

I think like this and then every time I'm on my roof/ladder doing something I think "it's really going to suck if I fall, I should pay someone to do this".

My wife - she wanted to be the Christmas Police and hand out citations for Xmas light displays after Jan 5th. I was going to get her a pad of citations to issue, but never got around to it.

Neighbors (the more recent additions to the ‘hood) have asked me why I don’t hire someone for yard work and such.
