Not sure I have any snake-suckin'-sculpin patterns in my box.
Still no big bugs but pretty darn good trout fishing yesterday. Besides a few on the streamer, we were gettin' em on stone fly nymphs. People will often tell you that fishing before or even after the hatch can be much more productive. We might be seeing that right now.
My guest from WA got fish of the day and I was stoked for him. Love seeing my friends get a good one and he's now playing with house money.
Today is going to be beautiful. I'm meeting up with a friend from Bozeman to hit the lower river. She continues to drop and I plan on being there when it happens.

Water is dropping quickly in my zone. Only a week or so left to get a boat through a couple of my favorite freestone sections
Finally got into a solid green drake hatch. Man that shit is fun

Yesterday was one of those days we'll be talking about for years. Solid bite from start to finish and multiple fish in this class
The weather was perfect. Nicest day of the year.
Bet we see a few big bugs today.

Finally got a decent one on the salmon fly. Took a Cat Puke type pattern on a heavy, grass cut bank. So fuckin' cool and I will forever have "the take" stamped in my memory.

I was fishing a section of local river today and eyeing two rainbows in the middle of a shallow run from the bank. Two kayakers came by the near side of the river and sent a school of 100+ 12" to 18" fish from the shadows of the treeline behind me out into the middle of the run. They were slow and flashed their silver bellies while doing barrel rolls. Those were carp, right? I'd never seen them in this river before and have never seen them school like that anywhere.
swing your fucking sword.

Got out with my kid for the cutthroat opener on the local creek. Nothing better than sight fishing to eager Cutts with big dries.
