JH 1989 high school senior trip. I paid for the trip with my paper route and returning months of my dad's empty beer cans for the 5 cent refund. My mang Jay on far right is moving and found these shots today. My crew and I rolled 1200 miles from Moose in my 1986 Ford Escort 4 speed manual. 10 days at the Motel 6. I'm lookers left. Out of the 4 I'm the only one that stuck the roller into Corbets on my 200 cm 4s's with Look turntables. Everyone else did it just because we all swore to the entire Cedar Rapids Kennedy senior class we would. They all exploded on impact. Fucking Geze's. Tried to tell them. Our sunglasses were whatever Scott Schmidt was wearing.

Second from right is Crazy Terry. Still one of my best friends and he is still busy terrorizing the sane people of Salida.

Second to last shot is Targhee. What a bunch of sweet shit boxes up there. God I loved it when rich people were rare.

I've got a pair I can bring down next week and leave with you if you want to leave the binders together. Skibrd can have them too for that matter. Or they can stay in my garage . Fun ski but not as fun as you remember they were

Someone told me today that the all-time record low snowfall for the Ghee in January is 56 inches and that so far this month the Ghee has gotten 21 inches

    Film cameras are awesome.
Rare glimpses. Not infinite phone pics.

Stumbled across pics of me on the pass from 1988 college bus ride trip.
    Too funny.
At least you weren’t the one in the Fanny pack. Crazy terry. Lol

Ha! Good catch. Terry and his long time partner went to the Himalaya a couple of years ago with backpacks, some food, and a map. They just started walking up the trail. No plan. No guide. No books. No Garmin subscription. Just a month and the urge to meet locals and adventure.

    Fucking badass. Love him.

Pretty certain the "Mad Chortler" was a top sheet graphic, not a ski design/shape. Could be wrong but would bet $$ on it.

Skiing has finally slowed down. Thank you.

Ski on chairs most of the time and 2-3 car wait at the tram today. Hasn't been this slow for 4 weeks.
Snow is nice but a tad firmish. Chalky to smooth and rubbly. Good turns to be had everywhere and not too bumpy either. That windstorm really flattened us out if not up.

GM - Ill ask around how that works. Maybe there's a best time to get on there.

RA13 - I'd be interested in the Mad Chortlers m'self. Maybe we can barter out something cool.
I know that board pretty well. Tierney graphics, yes?

Laughing at UM's pics - they tell such a story. I see an Olds Cutlass, maybe a plymouth Reliant K car or maybe it's a Volare, Oh, Oh, oh, oh.

Thanks Django. would be fun to get a django tour of the resort while i'm there. Also, mile long or endless has been on my bucket list for years if it happens to be in play. I know it hasn't been a good year for granite but I'll throw it out there . I think Schwerty offered to take me a few years back.

I love old photos like that (I also like new ones like upallnights) but reminds me that people have always loved skiing and did what it took to experience it even when things were way harder/sketchier/riskier. UM nailed the steeze of the times too

I think we are doing way better than most other places though so we've got that going for us. which is nice
blessing and a curse to have the best snow in the greater region

I consider it a great compliment if an image of mine can make a person FEEL something.

    Thank you!

Try Yostmart or Peaked in Driggs. Don’t know if Wilson Backcountry Sports rents tele gear.
