Clarity used to be one of many standards by which most beers were judged. Obviously that's changed. But to call that beer clear AF, your standards are quite low.

Hey, when you were in Bellingham, did you know Dave Morales? (former Boundary Bay brewer and proprietor of The Bottle Shoppe)

In the mid 2000s he told me that most pnw IPAs were turning into "over-hopped nonsense", a phrase that my friends and I got a lot of mileage from. Even so, they were all clear. Nowadays, most of those beers would be considered hoppy American Pales.

Nope, don't think so. I was much younger and more into drinking Busch Lite and hanging out at the 3B. I did go to Boundary Bay a few times though. They had great beer back then. I think if I lived there now, I'd spend a lot of time at Chuckanut brewing. I love their lagers and hit them up every year at GABF here in Denver.

The old euro styles are definitely Chuckanut's specialty, and they do them well. That said, I haven't been there in years. Almost never go to Boundary anymore either. Mostly because I enjoy the pnw over-hopped nonsense. And sours. And there are a lot of choices around here. You could go to a different brewery every night in a row for two weeks straight (...well, pre-C19).

This is delicious. Bursting with tropical hop aroma and nice, juicy flavor. This is a keeper.

What's the canned/brewed date on that? I tried a couple cans of HFoD about 2 months ago that were disappointing. I'll give it another try next time I see it.

Or maybe I've just gotten to the point where I think fruity, juicy IPA's suck. Give me something clear, between 7 and 8 percent ABV and with some serious bitterness. But I'm biased because I drank Bell's Two Hearted by the case for years and it's still a benchmark IPA for me.

Is there anything more disappointing than pouring a hazy IPA into a glass? Talk about unsightly beer.

This is...tasty. No head, kinda light body for a double. Juice up front, not too bitter on the rear.

That's definitely a different run from the one I tried. I'll keep my eye out for it next time I'm in a PCC. That shit's a little highbrow for Safeway.
